Question Body Shop Specialization

Does it matter which car make(s) an autobody shop "specializes" in ?

I had a fenderbender in my TSX and one shop I have a good impression of specializes in BMW and is acutally recommended by local BMW dealer.

I don't like the shop recommended by Acura dealer because it's pretty small and cramped in a rather messy way.

I don't really think so...

I've got some dings I need to take care of, and the shop that's owned by the dealer I bought my car from is kinda expensive...

So I called the local Honda dealer, and they get their work done at the cadillac dealer. The honda and caddy dealerships are both Herb Chambers dealerships. I've seen their work, they're big, and have a good rep, so I'm going to have them do it.

I agree, it doesn't really matter. Although if you have that kind of car, whatever it is, and the shop does specialize in it, I would feel better about having them do the repairs. Obviously because they should be more used to working on them and know what to expect.

For minor work, it doesnt matter; just find a body shop that does good work through recommendations, and a visit to their shop.

For major work though, going to a shop that specializes in certain makes can definitely help. As with anything, typically the more experience you have doing a certain job, the better the job turns out.
