BMW - The Ultimate Sliding Machine?

Anyone watching the Weather Channel tonight?

They showed footage of the slippery conditions in Nashville, TN today.... and the camera caught a BMW 3-series going into a spin while rolling down the highway. He slammed into a car while the camera was rolling!

Just had to share that ... I LMFAO!

It was very snowy and slick today in the DC area and my CL-S 6spd never slipped a bit (except on takeoff, and that's my fault).

Anyway, just though I'd share. Be careful out there!

No matter what car you drive...as long as you are going faster than the weather permits, your are going to f*ck up. Sounds like nothing more than a case of driver overconfidence to me.

But seriously...slow down!

well that will happen when you are driving on pilot sports which most come on BMWs. And most owners dont switch wheels for winters. :o

but whatever makes you feel better

pluto_1969 - Come on ... it's not nice to laugh at other's misery. Especially as an auto enthusiast ... I think that we should maintain a certain level of respect for eachother, despite the type of cars that we own.

BMWs, especially M or Sport-Packaged, come with Pilot Sports, which are known to have zero grip on snow. I personally have experience with this, with Pilot Sports 255 in the back, it is not fun. Even when driving at 5 mph, with 333HP and RWD, it is just not physically possible to get traction.

Finally ... to one's own I suppose. If you still find this funny, then I won't object.

My 2 cents.

Certainly didn't mean to laugh at the misery of other drivers... I just think my CL-S is a better car on slippery roads And if I can't brag about my Acura here, where can I go?

I suppose I found it funny because one of my friends has a 325 and is always lauding it as the perfect car. Bah!

I've seen the clip several times tonight on TWC and it definitely looked like the guy was driving too fast, tapped his breaks, and got sideways into a truck... can happen to anyone who is not adjusting speed, distance and driving style in adverse conditions.

Don't take this post the wrong way... I'm really not a mean person who smiles at the misfortunes of others. Well, not all the time anyway.
