Exclamation Bmw question......

My buddy right here has a 2001 BMW 740I. Need the radio code. Is this an individual number or.... maybe a universal number... Any info you guys could give me I would appreciate. I'm not really in with the Beemer forums so... Thanks

On our cars its an individual number, i'm assuming it is for the BMW too because making a universal number would be pointless.

Isn't the number in his glovebox or included with the cars manual?

It's an individual number. Should be in the owners manual somewhere like on a card.

I have an 01 740i and lots of the radios don't have codes. Is the radio asking for a code?

If the battery has been disconnected and the radio asks for a code and won't turn on, then the dealer is his best bet.

If the radio shows "CODE - - - -" and the engine won't start, then the car's OBC code is activated. Without the correct code, the car won't start and after the third start attempt, the alarm will sound. Again, dealer is his best bet.
