BMW M Roadster

Hello.

What do you guys/gals think of the M Roadster?

I have an opportunity to get a 2002 with 20,000 miles for a pretty decent (<30k) price. The car is sapphire black, with tan interior and pretty well loaded. Heated seats, HK stereo, power top. The car is also BMW certified.

The reat window is plastic.

This model year has the 315HP engine.

Any thoughts?

Sound like a good deal to me, and those cars are really fast, I believe they are even quicker then the M3.

Yes they're really quick. The MZCoupe gets my vote if you can find one. I wan't a fan of the drop top.

I cannot afford this car, either, but the deal seems to be very good. These cars are doing $30k at auction, and this one is certified.

I am/was not a huge fan of the Z3, but the M version rocked. As for the M Coupe, that was is amazing. They seem to be difficult to find.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Here is a collage pic of the car. We just had a bunch of rain, that is why the rotor looks the way it does.

You know, it sure does. I need to take a longer drive to see how I feel about that.

That is what I used to dislike about the IS300.

I would say go for it. Very good price for a low milage car. The M3's were resonably good handling cars, the only glaring issue is bump-steer. Also be aware that the S54 is a lot of engine for the chassis and always reminded me of a Cobra or Viper with the power and short wheel base. My wife had a 00 and the S54 02, I always thought the 240 hp was a little more balanced but she preferred the high strung nature of the S54. With decent rubber they can run 12s all day long and there are some wicked quick ones around. If you are a modder, the bits are just beginning to appears in mass for the S54, the guys on the bleeding edge are building 420+ @ the crank N/A S54s. I know one M3 going in for major surgery in about a month with the target being 380 at the wheels N/A and at the same time getting a CSL CF roof to get his weight under 3000. The only issue is money, the S54 is NOT cheap to mod but its a corker when unleashed especially in the M roadster!

Great feedback guys. I do not think I would mod the car. From what I can determine, anything below 30k for that car is a good price. The chassis felt pretty solid. The cornering was very solid, too.

The armrest thing is definitely an issue, but I do not know that the car would ever be used for a long trip.

Great M Coupe pics, BTW.

These are fast cars, no doubt, but damn they are . Plus, I'd do more research on the car since this car is going for below auction.

An absolutely wonderful car and one I will pick up soon for a weekend vehicle.

Let me know if you don't get it as I may want to swing up there and take it home.

I've driven the vert on numerous occasions and I like it a lot. For the money, I honeslty don't think that you could get a better drop top. DO IT!!

my dad drove that car for 2 years. he was too big for it and sold it and got the new m3.

That car is rediculous on curves, when i say rediculous, it fucking feels like your on a race

track, a little stiff on the suspension, but thats what it is, a genuine roadster.

M Roadsters are nice, I was looking at one a while ago. Only major complaint is that chassis rigidity isn't up to par with say an S2k or Z4. Then again, the badass engine makes up for that.

This one M roadster around here has plates that say 'MPRESIVE'...Always makes me grin

I think this being sold by private dealer who handles bimmers exclusively, cant tell for sure.

he is asking 40g way too much. I think blue says the car is worth 32g. he is trying to use the rare color as an excuse to jack the price. Its the second time in a month its been listed, so who knows how long it'll sit on his lot. If I had the money I'd be there in a heart beat dealing with the guy.

and thanks

before I lived in Memphis, I spent 20 years in Bucks County. A convertible was less practical there.

The guy is asking $35k for the car, but a friend of mine is a friend of the owner and they have been sitting on the car for a month.

Of course, it could be gone by the weekend, but time will tell.

Never liked the Mroadster.....had a 00 Mcoupe, the M roadster feels like you're sitting on top of the car vs. sitting in it like the Mcoupe.

If you sit in both, you'll know what I'm talking about.

The Mcoupe is a fun car.

That car was probably one of my favorite's to rent when I used to frequent Vegas on business. The power is so flexible, so much fun to drive, it begs to be driven hard...
