BMW drivers are the worst
http://www.bankrate.com/financing/ca...shared_default
saw this from that "operating costs" thread...
Maybe "Glengarry Glen Ross" writer David Mamet was onto something when he had Alec Baldwin's abusive and famously foul-mouthed character brag about his "$80,000 BMW."
Turns out there's substantial scientific evidence that BMW drivers are some of the most aggressive and selfish on the road.
A study conducted in 2012 by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Toronto examined driver behavior at a four-way intersection and crosswalk on busy roads in California. Drivers were graded on criteria such as whether they cut in front of other drivers or stopped for pedestrians in a crosswalk.
In general, luxury-car drivers were the least likely to be kind to other drivers and pedestrians, but BMW drivers earned a special mention from Berkeley researcher Paul K. Piff.
"One of the most significant trends was that fancy cars were less likely to stop," Piff told Benjamin Preston of The New York Times. "BMW drivers were the worst."
Maybe that penchant for aggressive driving has something to do with why the BMW 3 Series and BMW 7 Series hold spots on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's list of the top 10 models that generate collision insurance losses for car insurance companies.
Those losses are based on the frequency and size of collision insurance claims, and it's important to note, collision insurance only pays out when the driver is at fault, according to the IIHS. According to data from IIHS website, the collision insurance losses on BMW 7 Series are more than twice the average for vehicles nationwide, and BMW 3 Series two-doors are more than three times.
So the next time you're walking or driving down the road, you might want to give any cars with blue and white roundels, and their drivers, a wide berth.
What do you think? Are BMW drivers really the worst? If so, why do you think that is?

We have HELLA visors here in the Bay Area too. Moogy loves that word. I call them judge dredd or welding masks with their white gloves and arm covers to keep their skin white.

You guys ain't seen nothing. I've seen a lady rock two visor's. One on top of the other while driving. She probably couldn't drive worth without them on her head, lord knows she drove even worse with two of them on. I feared for my life when I saw her.

I've always believed that every car attracts a certain type of driver, for the most part. In my experience, not all, but most Prius Owners, BMW Owners, small SUV (CRV, X3, Escape, etc) owners, Chevy HHR owners, PT Cruiser owners, Scion Owners, and Camry drivers are the worst. Just a pattern I've observed during the ~500K+ miles I've driven so far.

^^ You have it down to a science.
...and when you are on your bike, EVERYONE is a bad driver.
Cagers are the worst!

And during this same ride home, came across a group of harley riders, with Florida plates. Only 2 of the 6 I came across were nice enough to move to the side to allow me to pass. The rest were just jerks and purposely moved in front of me. Either they didn't know lane splitting isn't illegal in California, or were self entitled pricks. 2 of them illegally crossed the double yellow.

Don't really care how they drive, but man, I can't stand how unreliable BMW's are.
Its not some urban myth either, they are so prone to electrical & motor problems, its rediculous.

Perhaps we've been looking at it all wrong then. Maybe BMW drivers are bad because they keep getting electrocuted by their car, causing involuntary actions (i.e. lane changes, sudden acceleration, sudden braking). Maybe they are just upset at their car all the time and don't know how to deal with their frustration.
