Talking bmw 3 series

tonite i was racing with a bmw 3 series 4 door sedan. first of all, that was fun, coz there were only couple cars on local and highway.
anyways my car is basiclly stock except K&N drop-in filter which i don't think it did too much work here.
we raced from 0 to 40 on local street and my tl smoked him; we also had few race from 40 to 90 on highway, and there were pretty close one coz i only get ahead of him about half of the car length which is still good enough for me, but after about 100 mph my car is slowing down and his car starts pulling, which makes me wonder: "our v-tech suppose to kick in at higher rpm, but why is my car slowing down??hum!!"
last i am really happy about my car, coz it's a "monster" to most of the common cars..

If he has a 3G TL , he needs to go get a refund, there is no way that should of happened. Once 3rd gear kicks in he should walk the 323, 325, 328 and be close with ( 1-2 cars ) with a 330 and once he reaches 100+ should put more space between them.

I was being sarcastic-if you knew anything about the TSX board, they are all obsessed with beating a 3 series. Im sad to see the TL community is even bothering with a 3 series.

i don't know how racing a 3 series warrants any discussion on a TL, because I thought that the TL would shit all over it. I didn't say he was obsessed I said the TSX kids were obsessed.

I know what you said and if you knew anything about the TSX board you'd know that 98% of members freely admit the TSX is not match for the 3 series performance wise.

So how about you STFU.

the last time I went onto that board was months ago when some kid claimed his TSX beat an m3. Maybe its changed, and I certainly hope so. The TSX is no match for a 3 series. There are a lot of really awesome TSXs on that board, with some very knowledable members, that know what they are talking about. I can start digging up some of the old posts, like "what will it take for my TSX to beat a 3 series" if you'd like..

aren't we cranky about the TSX-i owe you an apology, i looked at the racing and competion board, and mircalously, there was nothing about beating a 3 series, m3 whatever. Im sorry for making stupid generalizations about things 6 months ago and bringing it into the present

I've never seen a stock TL run a flat 14 sec quarter mile...

330s and TLs are close matches.

well i don't know, i test drove a 330i like half years ago...when i was in the driver's seat, i felt that car was fast(maybe just because my mind is telling me that THIS CAR IS FAST THIS CAR IS FAST)at launch and all the way. so at this point i don't know about

plus i don't think the TSX can beat 3 series anytime, as for the engine wise. unless they tune up a little bit.(don't get me wrong, i still like the TSX's look and everything).

I love the TSX and the look behind it-its a great car, and served its purpose wonderfully for me, but I just wish it was a touch faster. Every other car company is bumping its hp numbers up dramatically

It helps when you tell us what car you drive or better yet, just put it in your sig. This way 75% of the thread isn't shitted up with assumptions on which car you drive. If you haven't noticed, there are 4 different Acura TL models represented on this site.

A lot depends on what year and engine size was in the 3 series.

If it was a 328 up against a 6 speed TSX I find it questionable.a 330 no way. a 330 is a TL fighter.

YES! my bad, however i don't think there isn't much different. maybe just a splite second different from six speed to 5 speed.

and i don't think that BMW was a 323 nor 325, because from 40-90 he is only like half car length behind...

This is easily the dumbest thread so far in 2006.
THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT

Gear ratio. Auto TL have 2 overdrive, 2 gen and 3 gen TL die after 100mph.

Its true. Having you CL whores visit helps make us feel accepted into the community.

And we need a good reminder about how underpowered the TSX is from time to time.
