Black Paint
Metallic or non-metallic?
I've found that I (generally) prefer metallic paint on all colors, except black. Maybe I just haven't seen a really good execution of metallic black. But all the vehicles I do see, I feel like the metallic in it is too in your face. Maybe too much metallic? Or maybe the metallic flakes are too big? Idk.
I feel like non-metallic black gives a much deeper look when in perfect condition vs its metallic counterpart.

I like the metallic look, especially with a nice coat of wax on.
Not like it's relevant, since any black = eternal swirls and dirt.

Flat black looks good on some cars, but IMO it's a coin toss. Either your car will look pretty mean, or it will look like someone dumped a bucket of primer on your car.

personally, where is the Nighthawk Black Pearl, love how it turns blue in with the right lighting (and if anything it is a very toned down metallic at that)
but as AMAN said, swirls galore in black paint, generally looks the best on almost any car out there, but absolutely a mother f@cking bitch to keep it looking like new though

If it's black, it's already difficult to keep clean and look good. Maybe the metallic would help....

It really depends on the shade of black and the car, for example Citrin Black on the individual F01/F02 7 series looks amazing, however so does sapphire black. On the other hand a metallic black looks horrible on the E65/E66 7 series.

CL in lawnmower status
i had my cl painted that color and actually chose it because i liked the way it looked on the 7 series
it has a blue and white flake and looks kinda gray in sunlight, i love it
then i bought a black Audi, now i have two black cars at the same time
voted for metallic black, i love it
some of them can be too much flake, like the black on range rovers is like rainbow flake, which looks ugly as hell in sunlight
but if there is only one or two color flake and it is really subtle, then it looks amazing IMO

I would love to see a good execution of a black with red pearl tri-coat.
I had a custom paint made up for my headlights on my 3G... I loved that black.
You can't really see it well in that picture, but in person it was amazing.

Solid black is an absolute bitch to keep looking great but that being said, it looks INCREDIBLE when done right. I prefer metallic black because it has just a tinge more forgiveness plus it can look deep and wet from a distance but the flake just 'POPS' when you get close. You get the best of both worlds. Personally, I'd love to have a dark blue like Ford's Kona Blue or Hyundai's Pacific Blue but that's a whole different poll.
