BIG SUV's again?

Everest? Expedition Max? We've heard it called several things, but here is the first picture of Ford's extended Expedition.

Longer? You bet. The stretched Expedition is potentially as much as 16 inches longer than the standard model.

The Expedition will be redone for the 2007 model year, and it will once again be riding on a modified F-150 platform. In addition to the standard model, there will be this Suburban/Yukon XL-sized Expedition.

This test vehicle is likely powered by a V-6 diesel, but an optional 6.2-liter V-8 - referred to as the Hurricane - may follow for the 2008 or 2009 model year.

I guess we can expect to see single digit MPGs posted on the sticker of this behemoth. INSANE!! If people need so much room, just buy an RV.

Well if their developing a diesel for the Expedition it should average around 20MPG, which is good for any SUV that size.

Yeh, and here is a article on it:

International CXT

Category: Cars

The Pits of Hell: In an uncanny display of hubris, the international truck corp has succeeded in dwarfing the Hummer with this ungodly shitbox on wheels known as the CXT. Read all about it. One can only hope this is the "jumping of the shark" as far as mega trucks goes. The optimist in me expects a lot of hype and a few freak purchases. Sometimes life feels like a cartoon. God bless America.

And their publicity talks about "making statements" rather than any practical use for the thing. What sort of "statement" does it make, other than "I am an complete jerk".

Presumably some wannabe alpha male types think such a vehicle will compensate for the small size of their male member?

Could be the same size. I actually rented one when travelling to Montreal.
I never seen so many pissed off French people in my life when I was driving around in Montreal in that monster.

Well, according to Motor Trend, SUVs are on the way out in favor of Station Wagons. They are beginning to call these the "Family Car" again. In 1980, there were 34 station wagon models on the market. In 1997, there were only 17. Well, in 2005 we have 30.

Down with the SUV!! Viva La Revolucion!!

Dont mean to bring back an old thread, but some money-happy dummy in the next town over just got a new International. He was showing it off to some people in a parking lot. He was pulling out and as I passed by I made sure he knew how I felt Those things are absolutely rediculous And there are probably some other yuppies out there who are like I don't get it..
