best working fog lights?

yesterday at like 5am i experience one of the worse case of fog in my life. it was soo bad i couldnt see beyond 15ft! i had to drive super slow! and as everyone knows, pretty much all factory fog lights are useless. so i started to wonder what kinda bulbs work best against fogs? i know that yellow bulbs work best but the are just too weak to start off with. so would it mean that 3000k hids are the best choice? or are there other alternatives that work?
