Been playing Mechanic all week

Been trying to fix the power tailgate window in the Suburban. The track rotted out completely. Little pieces of rust inside the tail gate. I was driving with it stuck up for 3 months. Bought all the new parts for it & went to town this weekend.
Spent 8 hours Saturday 3 Monday & 2 tonight on it. Still not fixed right. PITA. Track was in backwards then the motor went then the tailgate had opening problems, what a mess. All that's left now is to align the side tracks so it goes up & down better.
So yesterday I get a call from my mom that her Altima won't start. Yep a bad starter. That's a HUGE PITA to replace. So tonight I went over got the car on a jack & spent 20 minutes finding the starter. I banged on it & the car started. It's now sitting in my driveway. That is Saturday's project.

Nothing constructive in this post just a rant.....

I know how you feel, it reminds me of the days when I had an Iroc-Z Camaro... brakes, water pumps, plugs, all that shizz, I never did it by myself but it was still a major PITA. It was a nice car when it was running but I was glad to get it off my hands when we got the Accord.

You're way too young for an IROC-Z to ever be a nice car to you

we had it since it was new when my dad bought it for himself, passed it to my mom when they got married, then onto me when I was in high school... I certainly appreciated the car for what it was but it had lots of problems (also needed an overhaul), but it is the reason I'll be going back to muscle cars when I "grow up"

That's how I ended up with an Acura in the first place- changing head gaskets, replacing asymetrically-sized (and therefore always out of stock) hoses and hot valve adjusts was a pain in the rear. Changing starters, adjusting carbs, etc. wasn't as bad, but still not a great use of time.
