Sure, I've done it several times. Once I went in and said I didn't know the area, didn't see any 25mph sign and assumed it was the standard 35mph zone. The magistrate said "that sounds reasonable, but make sure next time you are there you slow down", no ticket. Another time a cop said he "clocked" me doing like 65 in a 50. I said I didn't think I was going that fast and the Magistrate said "you have a pretty clean record, so I'm going to let you go, but slow down next time".
every time I have ever gone to court for a ticket, they either knock it down, or write it off altogether.

I have a couple of ebooks on the subject.
But I've never needed them as the cop's never showed up.

PM me.

If your record is clean, I see no reason why a judge anywhere would not lesson the fine & give no points if you fight it.

Everyone seems to be afraid of court. People with clean records just pay the ticket or take traffic school, for a minor speeding ticket. Fight it people! 99% of the time you will come out ahead.

request discovery. its the states evidence against you. if they dont send it then you can motion to surpress the evidence. there used to be a website on line that had a bunch of this info on it but it seems to be gone

Do not do this...

I've spoken to a few cops regarding the requests of supporting depositions. They don't like it, and if you do it they will be sure to show up at court and do everything they can to make your life difficult because you made theirs difficult.

well if you were to get a lawyer thats what they would do anyways. but are you talking about subpoening the officer? a subpoena is what is required to make an officer show up to court

what my friend does and i will do if i end up with a ticket in the near future is to hire a lawyer that will set the court date near a national holiday when coppers do not show almos 90% of the time. THis has proven effective as he has gotten out a ticket or 2 using this method. I do no know whether its possible in other states tho.

Good luck on that one, no chance in hell to scape that one regardless of where he was speeding.

I have had good luck with appealing speeding tickets in the past in fact have had three dropped against me, IMO appealing a ticket never hurts the worst that can happen is that you would have to end up paying it. Best way to avoid speeding tickets? just dont speed

I got a 4 pointer reduced to a 2 pointer and a fine. How fast were you going?

That's not true at all. Lawyers are not required to do any sort of discovery. I'm not talking about a subpoena. I'm talking about the officer representing the state and if the state does not show up there is no case. If you request supporting depositions, the cop will absolutely show up and be less willing to bargain. This is not an ablosute mind you, just an opinion I've heard from a few cops.

You can take the risk, if the cop fails to produce the discovery, the charges can be dropped, but I would rather try to just talk my way out of it with the officer face to face than risk pissing him or her off.

Almost did....
there were no speed limit signs from the beginning of a road down to the 3 miles later I got pulled over. Got the ticket anyway after going to court.

I guess almost doesnt cut it....
