Badass shot of me at 170mph

People always ask me how fast the M3 can go..well folks here is your answer, this was shot by my brother sitting shotgun....the M3 redlines at 8,100 RPM..my car is pretty stock minus an bolt ons and an ECU flash.
That was badass

lol... i can't... 155 speed limiter =\ unless i spend a couple thousand for the ECU upgrade.

I'm sure the E55 will hit close to 200 mph...the cd of the E55 is only .28 ...it looks like a brick but it is VERY aerodynamic.

Oh hush, every one of us has done something stupid.

If it makes you feel better it was in middle of nowhere west Nebraska where there isn't even enough population to support a McDonalds.

Nice? Instead of doing high speed runs, you should be at your local track, drifting your cars.

I am...in the summer i'm at some sort of track all the time. I usually am not speeding normally...but...middle of nowhere nebraska, nothing but cornfields for miles and miles...beautiful clear day...<shrug> I just had to see if I could come near the top of the speedo. The M3 is not the most aerodynamic car, but it got there pretty easily which surprised me.

But at more than 80 yards per second you wound't be able to react to anything whether it be a cornhusker, a cow, a horse, ... anything, especially if you're constantly looking down at the speedo to see how fast you're going.

Plain stupid. US highways are not designed for such speeds, all you need is a pothole to blow a tire and go flying. And I am not against speeding, it is just that 170 on US roads is stupid and suicidal.

That is dad gum fast, no doubt about it.

You checked your tire pressures before doing that, right?

Cheers,

Much more fun to speed around some twisties, but neither is safe. Pick your poison I guess. Hope you have an escort/v1.

Being the fact you were in the middle of nowhere...I don't find it too bad...

But 170 is a death sentence...Do it by yourself if anything, don't bring your brother with you.

Interesting, because I do an event up in Nevada where the Nevada Highway Patrol shuts the road down.......go as fast as you can.......been in a car that did 212 mph and avg'd 190+ over a 90 mile stretch.

Fastest i've done behind the wheel of a car is 164 though

G'damn that mustve been scary as shit. I took my CL to 140 once and was soo damn scared. I never take it past 100 now, just after that I dont feel enough in control..even at 100 I feel like one wrong move and there goes my life

Also, was that in the GTO. My pops just got an 06 CGM m6. Awesome deal on it too, kooks headers and some more exhaust work, car had 12.5k miles on it. he got it for 23k. He picked me up last weekend when I came down to visit. Its godly fast, just feels like the rear end is going to go out at any minute.

First of all dude, 41,000 posts? Holy crap!

Anyway, would that be the Silver State Classic? Maybe there's some other same type races like that these days. I'm kinda curious about that deal. Do they sweep the road before everyone runs, or is there some kind of inspection?

Man those roads are straight, those 30 mile arrow straight valleys with zero trees....broken up by searing mountain sweepers before diving into the next valley again. God bless Highway 50.

Lets be honest folks, a buck seventy on any public road is a big goddamn risk, sorta like late 60's Grand Prix car on circuits before Armco or any barriers at all.

There's just so much crap and junk and debris on public roads...not to mention tons of critter meat that can run out in front of you, so zinging a tire at 150 is best done on an autobahn.....going straight.

Its as simple as this:

Its balls when you are young, its risk when you get older. Up to you.

It just takes 1 thread for someone to fall out of favor....

Speeding is stupid.... but 150+ mph is dangerous. An airport runway is fine if you know when the road is running out, but if you did a dirt drop and over-corrected, you might have never had the chance to make this thread.

Roads aren't swept before runs, but are very well maintained. But, dust spots happen, had a buddy hit a rabbit at a tad over 180

Life is a risk, you have more chance getting taken out on the freeway going 70 then you do on an empty road doing 150

just so you know this forum doesnt like street racing or high speed runs while on public streets. Post like this will cause you to get flamed. I can't say I have never tried to max out one of may cars before. ut I will never do that again on a public road. I was young and dumb. Thank god nothing happened. If you feel the need to post up stuff like this, do it on another forum. Like I said before you WILL catch hell for it here!

I think it was cool, man.. no harm no foul. its your life, dont know why people so hard on ya. most of these people probably drive 5 below speed limit in the left lane which is more dangerous.. do another with it buried at 180...

I always tell people if you wanna speed, do it on an empty road at least so you're the only one in danger .. I don't find this TOO bad, but the fact that you had your brother with you topples my opinion. Good thing you came out okay, must've been a rush though.

yeah it's his life, but he is also putting other peoples lives in danger. (ie other drivers) At that rate of speed you have very little time to react to something, and no offfense to the OP but I highly doubt he has the skills to handle a car going that fast if something happens. please keep it off the public roads. Shit i know I don't have the skills to be in complete control going 160+ mph
