Read the whole topic, have some opinions my own but dont want to "dig my grave" in there....
But,
-Esp or Abs or anything else doesnt change the laws of physics, or that fact that you are driving with summer tires on winter.
Those wonders of modern world are really good for average drivers, at the same time you can think that new drivers, who are used to those helping equipments, are in trouble when something unusual happens. You just dont feel how your car is acting or how it should act.
For me, who have had driving license over twenty years, and have learned the winter driving "hard way", those things are sometimes useless or even harmful.
On the racetrack, i cant imagine that there would be better laptimes if i would use ESP or ABS, well, this is not relevant to the subject.

You have to adjust your speed to match your Skills, road condition and car condition, if you do it, and leave some reserve, you are safe.

For all drivers.

ESP can do something that no professional driver has the possibility to do; apply the brakes at one corner at a time to straighten the path. It is all it does, straighten the path to be consistent with steering wheel angle, at the very early stage before it gets from bad to worse.

Indeed, this incident you report with nice pics is another situation where ESP would have saved the driver's butt; a loss of control with no second party involved (similar to the other video with just less consequences). No law of physics is challenged and no more traction is created. It is just about correcting in the first milliseconds giving back to the driver the path of the vehicle. Like the ABS, key word is control.

Now if one really want me ranting on something, that would be about AWD. Let's keep meat for a future discussion.

I think that ESP could not have saved Ms. in this case.
Speed was very slow, maybe 15 mph, she was driving road full of snow and steered over the edge of the road.
In that case it kinda suck you in.
She didnt do any fast movements that have caused to loose the control of the car.
She just didnt see where the road was going.

If she were driving 95% slower, she probably wouldn't have slid off the road.

Red text = sarcasm (on Acurazine at least)

But it is true.... we just like to pull the 95% statistic out of our butts in honor of Saintor.

I think fatty syms himself did it. Don't see why not, probably just had a tire shop dismount the tires for him... unless he somehow did that himself too

Safe to say that 95% of drivers out there drive 95% faster than they're skilled to handle.

A friend and i did it. We have since added nearly 100 more per tire and made a 2nd set. Had local tire shop umount and mount for us. Tires are ballanced as well. No liners and no leaks

Does it hold only 95% of the air it used to?

OP: I apologize in advance, your thread was serious one, until us kids showed up.
