My brother blew the motor on his Integra LS and we are buying a new motor and trans. What do you think is a fair price for this installation and the time it should take to do it? Am I crazy thinking it should cost $500 and a 5 hr job?

Nah the radiator had a crack in it and the idiot kept driving it around knowing he needed to change the radiator.

Was he running low on coolant? Was the engine overheating? Just wondering because a friend of mine keeps getting the "coolant low" light, but it's not low when he checks it and the engine isn't overheating. He does have some coolant in his engine bay though.

The engine was overheating, then it made a clunk type noise then he took it to the shop and all the retainer and rods and a whole bunch of other crap was shot.

I'm picking it up next week. Its the same motor and tranny but I think the year may be a 97 compared to the 94 it is going in.

I'd say total cost will equal transmission+ motor combo +1000 bucks.
at least it's a LS and not a Type R motor.
Type R motors they butt rape you.
it's like 5000-6000 bucks for a JDM Type R motor with tranny.
