I apologize in advance for the randomness and fair lack of point of this post but am I the only one that doesn't really find the R8 that attractive??? Probably so judging from what I have read and seen about this car. I'm sorry but something looks, to me, to be a little odd with it. The front is kinda blocky and the LEDs scream trying to hard to me. Also, the non-body colored side thing really annoys me. Why is it there?



Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have one I just think it gets too much hype for being beautiful. The interior is indeed very nice but exterior-wise I don't really fancy it. Maybe I'm the only one?

I think they tried to take an old( some-what classy look) and add some aggresive features. If they had made and entire new car with ALL aggresive sides to it(not literally speaking), it would be a little more appealing. Just think of a civic with a 12 inch spoiler... it doesn't match. Just my opinion.

OP, I usually agree with you on most of topics, but the R8 is SICK!

 

The R8 is drop dead sexy. That said, I still wouldn't buy one if I had the money....no clue why It'll be hard for me to not get a SL AMG in that price range...

 

Never mind the two that are in my community...anytime I see one on the road...like the 3 i've seen in the two days I always "R8!!!!"

Its one of the sexiest cars on the road and has the performance to back it up.

And you can get the side panels body colored.

R8 = dead sexy.

 

I see them every now and then, but they don't really stand out much. Of course I would drive one if someone gave it to me, but there are much better cars in this price range.

 

I spent some time up close with the R8 at an Audi track event yesterday. I sat in it, too - but I didn't ride in it.
Before yesterday, I would've agreed with you. After yesterday, I have to disagree. I think the car is fantastic. Here are some pics from yesterday... From a distance, especially with light colors, the front looks a little weird - but when you get up-close, it looks sharp.

So yeah... up-close, its' much better looking. The interior is fantastic for a car on this segment. Reminds me of the NSX in many ways.

I normally don't agree with the OP, but in this case I am in the same camp. I didn't like it from pictures and the videos I've seen, but I wanted to reserve absolute judgement until I saw one in real life; a month or so ago one pulled up out front of the coffee shop I was at and I had the opportunity to stare at it for a few hours, I think my opinion of the cars appearance was further reduced.

With that said, I respect what it offers and it is nice to see Audi bring a real mid-engined sports car to market, conceivably out of no where, and having it on par with the benchmark in real world sports cars, the 911. Now that I've mentioned the 911, I think it is one of the most beautiful cars made currently, and others will say it looks boring or they never liked the 911, I say its a good thing they make cars to please everyone.

Agreed. The long Euro plates seem ok on it, but the more squarish American plates would look terrible

The only thing I don't like about it is the back. I feel like it doesn't match the mean looking, devilish front end

If you think it's ugly, you've never seen one. The car doesn't translate in pictures at all. Absolutely sexy and stunning in person. It can out-sex an Aston.

anyways that isn't the most flattering picture of it and at first I was unsure about the expansive Audi grills but when I saw them in person they looked like sex. And whenever I do see an R8 in person its just awe inspiring.... somehow the styling just works for me. Its especially distracting when I see one while I'm driving.... its not just sexy, but its dangerously sexy.

 

It's not really out of no where. This is pretty close to being a Lamborghini Gallardo with an Audi like body kit.
