I raced my co-workers Audi A4 2.8 Quattro and that car is fast. His car is a 98 and slightly worked with suspension, intake, headers, and Remus exhaust. I was sure I was going to beat him since he only has 190 hp....man was I fooled, don't get me wrong I stiil won but not by much. I thought I would pull easy and it was tight untill about 100 mph and then I took him. What bothers me is the fact that he has 18" chrome wheels that I bet weigh a ton while I have SSR in 17" which weigh 17.5. Whats the deal with these European car with far less HP and giving us a run for our money.

 

Gearing is more aggressive, quattro helps with the launch, also I think Europeans are more conservative on hp ratings, while Japanese have too much wishful thinking in their hp ratings. Another thing is that Beamers for example have much less hp loss to the transmission, like only 8% vs. ~20% for an auto CL.

 

remember audi is also vw, they are the original pocket rocket

I assume the race started from a standstill, but at what speed did the race end? Cos, I bet, the more speeds would go up, the more you would have gained on him.

 

Isn't that 8% power loss only apply to the manual transmission? Because the 6spd CL doesn't loose 20% like the auto CL does.

 

Try switching off your VSA...
I dunno...a 2.8 is slow....their HIE don't really help that much....
