we'll im chip + intake + turbo back exhaust.. and im 1/2-1 car length from betting an all motor 2nd gen tl (non-s, intake, exhuast, headers, pully,ect)\

Well we actually have a 25% drivetrain loss thanks to quattro. So your wheel horsepower figure is off.

You should be around 215hp/245lb-ft with your mods and thats at the crank. Also dont forget you running 91oct.

I should be around 250hp/290lb-ft on my K04 I still have to dyno it though.

So the hp numbers after some basic mods rings it up close to the 98 accord v6...which is not too much of a power loss. Obviously the Audi would handle better with quattro...do they require 91+ octane like the TL?

torque figures should be better than the 98 accord since that is FWD and A4 is AWD, right? or is that just the butt dyno?

Torque should be better than accord because the A4 has a turbo.

And yes, the A4 requires at least 91oct.

well I really think I'm sold..actively looking for A4s every I can find...been frequenting ebay a lot and I see a lot of 96-2000 A4's with absurdly high miles for around 4-8k...do they really lastthat long? I saw a 2001 1,8t with S4 rims and 89k miles on it going for $8k buy it now...seems almost too good to be true provided it is in at least fair condition.

Eh just use Autotrader theres a shitload of A4s in the Southeastern PA area. I'm sure you can find a good 2002,2003,2004 A4 at a good price and in good condition.

You get what you pay for. So dont expect a $8k Audi to be trouble free

Wow....u da MAN!!! Awesome diagram!!! The oil filter looks tough to get to..is there a purpose to putting the intercooler up front? I've noticed one or two for sale with it in front and wondered if it actually helped.

You new to turbo engines, arent you.

I dont mean to be a dick but you sure you will be able to do the work if needed on them? Gotta understand the engine to be able to.

Anyways, a FMIC will help prevent heatsoak if you are pushing higher boost/timing. But the stock intercooler is just fine if you only getting software and exhaust. If you plan to get a bigger turbo or larger injectors (with the right program) then you should get a FMIC.

The stock side mount is still in front btw. Its just on the side behind the fog grills.

I am fairly new to turbos yes. That's where my buddy comes in! He's been schoolin me pretty much and will be doing some work for me. i don't plan on doing a lot of turbo work at all. Just curious to see if there was a performance reason to have a FMIC other than to help keep it cooler. Just wanna be sure before I go ahead. And don't worry, you're not a dick at all. As a matter of fact, u just got rep points. The only things I know about turbo setups are what I know from howstuffworks.com. But even then, I like to triple check everything. I'm just really anal like that by nature. Anything else you think I should know?

Yes, order a http://www.ross-tech.com/ so you can do logs and read CEL codes.

Stay away from the CVT transmission also.

And try to look under the oil cap to see if there is any sludge build up. That should be your number 1 concern when buying a used 1.8t. Good luck!

u mean the 2.8 v6 for the older A4's? I was really set on getting something a little easier on mileage b/c I hate filling up gas. I don't mind paying for 91+ octane, but I hate having to fill up gas about twice a week. So since I'm no boy racer I drive nice and easy..i wouldn't be redlining it every so often. So two less cylinders is usually a good way to help it along...lol

My bad I mean 2.8. I thought those engines were turbo too. But yea I agree the only problem with bigger engines is the gas. Anyways I found some good Audis through autotrader. I used west chester's area code. I don't know what area code is for King Of Prussia. Anyways theres a 164 audi a4s within 50 miles heres the link http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/search...=&keywordsfyc=

wow...is it just me or are there WAY better prices on ebay? seems like everyone is trynig to unload 2002-2004 for at least 20k, when I've seen similar years with less mileage for between 16k-19k?

http://audizine.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=44 some you can look through also.

Paying 20k or more with over 50k miles is too much.

Prices are always better on ebay but its harder to tell what condition the car is in. Thats the only problem.
