Audi A4 CVT transmission... input?

A coworker has a 2005 A4 CVT w/ about 60k miles on it. The transmission has given up apparently.

What is the recommended course of action? I told her to try to contact the Audi zone rep because it only has 60k miles on it.

I tried searching on Audiworld but I'm not a member there so I'm not really familiar with whom/what opinions to believe, etc.

Thanks.

Isn't 60k beyond the powertrain warranty?

Audi stopped using the CVT right afterwards (at least in its US cars)-- that's a clue as to what Audi thinks.

I hope your coworker gets factory assistance, or better yet, a high trade-in offer.

I did a search on the Googs and found a few threads at audi-forum.com ... Known issue and occasionally Audi will partially pay for the repair.

It's not going to be cheap.

Right, it only covers to 50k. But seeing as how it only has 10k past the warranty limit, I recommended contacting the zone rep for a possible good will repair.

But I was just wondering what you guys thought.

Did she have regular service at an Audi dealer? They may be more willing to help and see if you can find out what the goodwill assistance limit is as well.

If she has been keeping up with the car's services at a specific dealer, then that would help with getting this type of fix done at a better price.
