Auction experiences???

Hi folks! I'm in the market for a newer car, and I always like the TL(3rd Gen). I found a very nice/decent looking one (pics) in an auction, but have never bought through one.

Can any of you folks share any car auction experiences? Whether good or bad, I'd like to hear/read from you.

Another thing, I've noticed some vehicles have rebuilt/salvage titles, aside from low resale value, is there any big deal in buying one of those?

I bought my mom an 05 Lincoln LS back in 05 on Ebay. I was in GA when I bought the car (in Houston) and home is Lake Charles, LA. I called the guy and talked to him about 4 or 5 times before I clicked buy it now. He personally drove the car to my Mom's House and had a big red ribbon on the hood. I told him Im in the military stationed away from home and want to get this car for her. He was extremely nice and helpful.

Of course I checked the sellers feedback (he was a car dealer) and got a very good vibe talking to him on the phone. Couldn't pass up the price so I completed the whole transaction while I was in GA.

Can't comment on the rebuilt/salvage title thing...never experienced it. Although I bought a truck that was previously repo'd on the previous title and I still got more than full trade in value for it for my TL.....

Thanks Phee.

I found a TL a couple hours away from my town, so I'm having a mechanic check it out before I start bidding.

Question Remaining factory warranty...

I seen the mileage said about 22K (not actual mileage) but if something happens later down the road, will it be covered under the factory warranty? Do cars with salvage titles still keep the remaining factory warranty?

No, they absolutely do not. If the car has a salvage title, no matter what breaks it will not be covered.

Yea, i thought you were talking about ebay or something. We bought my dad's 04 Lexus LX470 on it.

But damn, i would run, not walk, away from that. Thats a headache waiting to happen until you own a body shop or something to deal with unforeseen problems.

Had the car inspected, it was fine, nothing wrong with it.. But I rather stay away from the salvage title.. Just rubs me the wrong way. Thanks for the replies folks.
