I found it interesting that the speedos on the Deloreans only go to 85 mph. Someone in my hometown of Malvern, Pa had one that just sat in the driveway all the time. He's prob a member of that site, I'm sure since he's had it since I was a kid.

That's why I like Leno, he drives his cars... and drives 'em hard...
Speaking of low mileage cars that never get driven, there's a pair of 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo S's for sale over on the pelican forum... $400K buy 'em both...
The black car has 178 miles on it, the yellow one has 73 miles on it.

Another common licence plate for the Delorean's is DMC 12
Never understood the appeal. The doors are cool, but after that?? I knew someone that had one. It was a slow. I guess for the years it was a great car. But compared to today's cars? No contest.

So it's the rarest of the last of the aircooled 911's...
I think the MSRP on 'em was somewhere around $125K back in 1997...
For comparison, they made about 9000 DMC 12's, which about 6000 are still around today...

My father has had his De Lorean put away for years not in a temperature controlled storage unit. I have begged him to take it out and register it, he refuses. It has about 5000 miles on it.
Deloreans were all about looks and exclusivity. There's really nothing performance wise that makes these cars desireable. It's certainly a piece of automotive history though, even in the absence of the 'Back to the Future'' notoriety.

Storing a car, and never driving it is such a waste of money. Look at all the shit he had to replace because it was never used. Now he is selling it??? It makes no sense. It's like having a model for a wife and never fucking her.

I would love to get my hands on a R34 GT-R and I'd drive that thing around like i was :too cool:
And as for your model qoute:
If the R34 GT-R = Alessandra Ambrosio, then Deloeran = Twiggy.
And I wouldn't put my johnson anywhere near twiggy.
LOL, I agree. Just the general idea of having a rare, or very nice exotic car and never using it, to only sell it and put money in it like that is a waste. So I compared it to having a really hot g/f or wife, paying to get her hair, nails, tits, done never touching her to break up with her and let someone else enjoy it.
I want an NSX badly, and when I get it it will be driven as much as possible. I can see not using it in the snow, bad weather, but on nice days USE the damn car. Not for nothing if you use it and take care of it you won't have to replace that much shit all the time from it dry rotting.

oooh nice, plus this is in the Chicagoland area! only bad thing is that I don't have $32,000, plus i know it's a rare car, but the car doesn't have the car technology present that is in today's cars.
if i could ever find one under $20,000, I may buy it and change a few things like that 85 mph speedometer, add an aux jack for mp3's, and put a navigation in it.

Deloreans are hot. Always have wanted one. They were never about performance although there was a turbo prototype that was made before Delorean went out of business. I'll buy one someday, but these restored ones (although they look amazing) are too expensive. 20k is what it costs to have a good looking Delorean that runs well.

You can find a lot of cars from that era with a 85 mph speedo. That was the DOT in action. They felt that if you dodn't know how fast you were going than there would be no reason to go fast and therefore you would use less gas and we'd all be safer.
A Delorean with a 85mph speed isn't nearly as funny as a Ferrari with an 85mph speedo.
