Anyone Have 21st Century Car Insurance

I currently have American Express Car Insurance, despite having a perfect driving record they want to take me to the cleaners on a BMW M6.

I recieved a letter from 21st Century Insurance, and got a rate better than anyone else.

From what I told they have been in business for 50years, there financial stability is tier A+ based on there credit report. And they look like a good insurance company...

So does anyone who is insured by them have good to bad comments to make ?

Thanks......

I had 21st Century for a while and didn't have any problems with them. When I moved from CA, I had to switch.

I'm a sheep stuck with State Farm, but I filled out a survey for 21st and they sent me this neat little "accident kit" with a camera, pen, paper, flashlight, etc, that I stuck next to my spare.

That doesn't really help you, but they seemed like a nice, stable company.

They're pretty prevalent in CA, and I had them for a few years. Though I never had to file a claim, they always seemed helpful and on-the-ball while on the phone.

They're good. I just filed a claim two days ago with them. I had hit some debris on the freeway on my commute home and they took care of it as a comp. claim with almost no questions asked.

Talked to my adjuster, called the bodyshop, got an estimate, dropped the car off all within one day. Prices are decent too. Can't think of any complaints yet.

Had them until I had a claim for a broken windshield on a 1985 MR-2 that was 11 years old. The car looked as if it had just left the factory and they put up a hell of a fight about replacing the glass with OEM and not after market. Finally got it my way and told them to screw themselves and switched to Allstate. Auto insurance went up, but homeowners came down and I saved $$$ in the deal. Also when my wife worked with a PI attorney they were the worst of the insurance companies they had to deal with.

here in SoCal, I had 20TH Century for about 18 years. Made only one claim back in 1996-97 but their premiums were always lower then AAA, State Farm or Allstate (I cross-shopped annually).

In 2000 when I bough a new car and received a quote from Mercury Insurance, Mercury was $100 less for six months then 21ST and $160 less then AAA. Have been a Mercury policy holder ever since.

Side note: I just renewed my Mercury policy three weeks ago but also requested a quote from AAA. AAA was only $8 more then Mercury for like coverage. I had heard that AAA was aggressively going after the car insurance market, but their quote was a welcome surprise.

I also had American Express (now named Ameriprise) and they wanted to take me to the cleaners right along with you on a G35 coupe. The premium they charged for the G35 itself was almost just as much as my other two cars (05 TL, 98 escort) combined! My 6 month premium for the two cars was 670, and they wanted to charge an extra 554 for the G35! I cancelled them and went with progressive, which only charged me 841 for all three cars. I tried Amica and Geico and they were the same price as AMEX. State farm was entirely too high wanting to charge me over $1500 for 6 months. Keep in mind I have no accidents or tickets.

The only ones that gave me resonable rates (in the $800's) were Progressive, AllState, and Essurance). I went with Progressive because Allstate can't even call people back.

I never heard of 21st century insurance though.

I had 21st Century for many years until they almost went bankrupt from the Northridge earthquake in California. I had 1 claim and their turn over time was very good. Basically this meant one phone call and did it all kinda thing. I didn't need to do anything. They came to my house and did everything for me from start to end.

After the Northridge earthquake, they stopped selling home insurrance. So, I switched to Mercury.

Mercury is cheaper but they have no service. You call them, they will tell you to go here and go there and do everything yourself. So, if you don't mind taking your car here and there for inspection, estimate, etc., you may want to have Mercury and save a little bit of $$$.

Plus Mercury have no retail outlet. If you want to buy Mercury, you need to look for an agent to do it for you. And the agent will want to charge you agent fee every time you call him/her.

21st Century doesn't have retail either but at least you are dealing with them directly. So, you don't have to pay the agent fee.

Bottomline. Mercury is just a little bit cheaper. If you don't want to do everything yourself, 21st Century is much much better.

I'd give them a call, and see if they provide car insurance in GA. I most likely will go with them...
