, OK we won't talk about the misserable Honda V6 5AT as long as we won't talk about MB's awful reputation for repairs and depenablity in the 90's to the mid 00's across most of their products.

I doubt Honda has ever, or will ever, put out a product as horid as the early ML's. It set records for bad in the CR ratings.

Yeah, as I mentioned before the MB of the 80's were solid and the car of choice for taxi's. I think the problems started when they tried to compete with Toyota/Honda on high tech features.

It would be best if they concentrated on their core strength in overengineering bolts and outsourced all the tricky parts (anything to do with electricity) to the Japanese/Koreans.

i work for Honda and i doubt if we (or most Japanese car makers) would do that. When we(Honda) got Acura, Toyota got Lexus and Nissan got Infinti. all great Lux cars. Honda for a brief period made v-6 engines for GM(Saturn Vue) but i talked with someone who was in the room when that contract was wrote up. Honda didn't wanna say to GM "we don't wanna build engines for you." so they made the price so wildly high they thought they'd say no. they had like a net profit of like 2 grand per engine. just GM wanted that engine due to emmissions/mileage on their old V-6 sucked.
now i don't see Benz outsourcing anything with electrical to other car makers. I see them "stealing" some of our's and other makers eletrical engineers. some guy that isn't happy at Toyota or Nissan they might make them an incredible offer.

I just saw two of the coupes not more than an hour ago. I had take a 2nd look to what it was. It looked Korean to me, even the tail lights looked Korean. It doesn't give the Mercedes presence like most M-B do. The cars were in green and the other in black.

I can see it if you focus on the general wrap-around style of the rear red lenses, but I think this is a general style for cars right now.

Honestly, I see a resemblance to this:

...at least as far as the tail lights go.

Thanks for the lauf . You have no clue (as others have stated) or you are trying to one up msl82.

To continue the (perhaps too subtle) digs at MB and oh what the heck BMW too...

Now I love my Braun electric toothbrush, shaver, and digital thermometer. And I love my Bosch microwave and dishwasher. Germans do know electrical engineering. So I have absolutely no idea why putting 4 wheels on a device in Germany results in total electrical FUBAR.

It's fine to talk about it... a stupid merger with Chrysler. That's done and in the past... Acura is just left with building ugly cars now.

Actually they are copying MB... wrap around tail lights have been a signature of a Benz for a while... it's about safety.

These design cues seem to come and go in phases... and this is the current trend.

the funny thing CL6 i work for Honda and unless Honda/Acura does something with their design engineers i won't be buying any of their products.
Jaguar(aka Tata motors) have been really pulling my attention. not only i think their FINALLY headed in the right direction(Ford fucked them over for years and years with quality ) but also their designs are ahead of Acura.

I worked for an Acura dealership for 4 years. I think Acura's problem is they thought they could "stand out" by slapping "distinctive" noses on their cars... they just look like a freak show now. Too bad because the 04-08 TL was a great looking car... the 05-08 RL was a handsome car. At first I didn't like the new MDX but I think it turned out okay. Technologically speaking Acuras are great but not too pretty.

I think the Jags now are a reflection of Ford b/c Tata just bought them.

It's OK if you have a Benz and you fix it yourself. Maybe like the old 300D.

No worries, I am a member or 1 or 2 myself since I was contemplating an E63 at one point.

I'm sure it will... just not sure when. C&D had their 2010 model issue and none of the Acura's are getting their beak tweaked. Additionally they had pics of the new ZDX and yes... it had the nasty beak.
