and DAMN that Tundra interior is ugly. It looks like a bunch of 3 year olds built it with those big cardboard brick things I had when I was a kid. The shifter is FUGE, it's too "panel-y", and it doesn't flow well, IMO.

I wouldn't get the 4.8, it will kill the resale value.

If you test the GMC I expect it would drive the same as the only difference is body panels. IMO, the GMCs look a little nicer.

If you are comparing to the Toyota's power train, I do have to admit that their engine is nice. The problem is that truck fully loaded compares in price to an HD, which could give you the DMax and Allison 1000, so no contest.

In terms of long term reliability. I have a 1996 Sierra with 160K miles. It has undergone its fair share of repairs (all the expensive stuff by the previous owner), but I took it off roading a couple weeks ago and beat the shit out of it and it still runs. The interior has also stood up pretty well.

I don't know if Beam Shake is a problem on the Tundra, but the GMs have a fully boxed frame which is nice. GM-Trucks.com is a good site.

I hate the front bumpers on lot of these newer trucks. I'm sure it helps with wind, but they look like crap to me.
