Anybody else have mental dos and don'ts for passengers?
Just out of curiosity, anybody have a personal list of dos and don'ts for passengers?
I have a list I keep in a door pocket, most of it is just for shits and giggles though, and it's a good ice-breaker. Although there are some things passengers tend to do that pisses me off.
Slamming the door. It never ceases to amaze me why people feel like these doors require a Herculean effort to close. I understand some people have cars with heavy doors, which is why I just remind them after the first try. Usually they do it over and over again. It's frustrating.
That, and playing around with my radio. There are some people that like to hop in and just change the radio, crank it up and start dancing in the passenger seat. That annoys me too. Generally, I ask pasengers what they like to listen to anyways, so taking it for granted is unnecessary.
Backseat drivers. Unless they're giving directions, I don't appreciate people commenting on my driving or offering alternate routes. It makes me want to smack them sometimes.
Those are my usual 3 strikes to never receive rides again. Anybody else have a similar list? What's on it?

Slamming the doors and messing with the radio are on my annoyance list too. Unfortunately my daughters love to change the music and their friends slam the doors even when politely asked not to. Oh well. In addition, no smoking, eating and drinking (water OK) in the cars as well.

I don't drive people around? ![Dunno](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
My girlfriend loves to put on her music when she's in the car, but it doesn't really bother me since we listen to the same music and I usually keep the radio off anyway.
Eating and drinking in my car is a big no no. Nor is taking shoes off. I don't want to smell your stinking feet in my car, especially since the cabin filter needs replacing.

Slamming doors is a huge don't for me. I don't understand it either. Also, no eating or drinking and no playing with the damn windows. Anytime some else is in my car I lock them.

- people leaving their trash (empty water bottle, gum wrapper, tissue, etc) in my car.
- slamming door
- playing with the windows (pressing up, down, up down,... )
- adjusting my rear view and passenger side mirrors for not God damn f'in reason aside from their own boredom.
- unbuckling seat belt and letting the metal buckle part hit the door panel because they just let go of it as it's retracting
- front seat passengers adjusting recline of seat and not putting it back the way it was before when they leave/are dropped off

-Putting there hands on my windows especially after they know I washed it!!
-When my window becomes foggy, they write words in it
-Backseat drivers
-When they get out the seat belt is not straight, its all twisted and wont go up properly, this annoys me a lot since it happens quite often.

^ I find myself fixing that a lot lol
Probably for me its when they leave the seat up, like for back passengers to get in. Because then when I get in its way to far forward and doesnt retract unless the door is open and sits way to far forward and blocks my normal shoulder check spots.

- Touching the windows and leaving fingerprints!
- leaving trash behind
- stepping on the door sill to get in/out (issue with coupes)
- another coupe issue, people pulling the seatback adjustment instead of the quick release to get to the backseat. When you see it a million and one times...
- throwing the seatbelt back and making it hit the door trim
The list is mostly annoyances, but smoking is a big no-no for me. I had an ex that smoked in my car once.... hence her being an ex. Smoking in my car or smoking right before getting into my car are the only things that will make me tell someone off or tell them to get another ride

I have two rules ... No smoking. In fact, if you've smoked in the last half hour I'd rather your stinky ass walked.
If you brought it with you into the car, take that shit with you. People leave their bottles in my car all the time. Annoying.
I haven't had anyone start messing with my radio or the A/C without asking. If I was on a date and a chick starting playing with the radio without asking, she's getting dumped at the next intersection.

I think I did more so the first few years of having the car. I'm not as anal now (seems sad I used to be worried about fingerprints). Then again, people I drive around are pretty respectful anyway, and I empty any garbage from the car every time I exit anyway.

Aman: I hope it's a joke that you actually keep a list with you. I understand pride in ownership and wanting to keep your car for a really long time....but lighten up and enjoy the ride. Some people sound miserable to be around for a simple car ride home...enjoy your friends' company. Most people aren't out to destroy your ride.

Since I have my own iPod in my car running all the time, the songs get a bit overplayed. So one thing I have my passenger bring is their own iPods or MP3 players, so I can listen to something different once in a while. I have no preferences towards music, so it's a win-win situation.

- Keep your feet off my dashboard
- Keep your greasy mitts off the windows.
- If you feel compelled to touch the radio....do your best to suppress the urge or I will help you.
- Either keep your window open or closed. Don't be changing your mind every 15 seconds. And don't bitch about it when I roll yours up so I can turn on the A/C.
- Don't slam the doors.
- Don't drag your feet across the sill, either.
- Don't EVER bitch or complain that it's a Hyundai. I can drop you at the nearest bus stop without hesitation.

Pretty much everything you guys have said.
One of the things that will make me go ballistic is when people play with the window visors. If I don't use them you don't need them. It cuts into my line of sight, very annoying...

Pretty much the things that bother me are Feet on the dash (the kids get charlie horses from me punching them in the thigh when they do) writing on the fogged up windows, leaving the oh-shit handle down, leaving the seat belts a tangled twisted mess that usualy gets slammed into the door just for it to bounce back because its in the door jamb, (see final peeve) and finally slamming doors. Some people feel that its necessary to put the amount of effort into closing my door as it would take to push a 20k lb vault door shut

#1: windows / sunroof rule....if its > 65 degrees, all windows/sunroof open. nothing could ruin a roadtrip more for me than passengers that are not okay with this rule. (has nothing to do with an alternative to A/C, just the way i am). if you have sensitive skin or ear pressure problems, chances are you are assigned to someone else's car.
#2: certain ppls tendencies to constantly use the ceiling mounted handles for no reason...then NEVER folding them back up. this is not an 18 wheeler.
#3: slamming of doors. again, this is not an 18 wheeler.
#4: no open containers. im not taking a risk so you could have one drink.

oh shit bars that spring back up FTW
You'd think. People manage to make getting into any car a 10-step (literally) process.

Just two...
No eating allowed in the car. And if I'm driving someone who is beyond sh*tfaced and ready to hurl, well, he/she won't be in my car. I'll call a cab for that person.

I usually don't trek others around/offer rides just because I am anal.....but things that get me...
- Slamming Doors
- Grimy paws on windows....and dash.....and anything
- Food
Something else.
How come I notice that I seem to be the only one that can close the door by the black molding without getting any nasty paw prints all over it? Maybe I just have clean hands? I never have that problem on my door. Other people close the door by the black molding and leave a grease mark like the just took a swim in some McDonalds french fries. Wtf?

I am not as anal as I used to be years back. People that get in my car respect my car. It is like taking off your shoes at the door in my home. I think what it boils down to is simple respect. Aside from respect some people are just plain inconsiderate.
I do hate when people grab my A-pillar to get into or out of my car. Weaklings.
