Not buying based on the looks.

Im not a fan of convertibles, had a sebring years ago and got sick of it. Plus I would like this to be my track car.

What other ideas you have for a fast car for under $4k?

Trust me, spend an extra $2k and get one in mint condition. Unless you have time & tools, the extra money up front for a well maintained car is worth it.

I paid $10.5k for mine, but it has ~ $20k in mods to it, is a Cobra, and is a 95. I'll be running with C6 Z06's when I put the Vortech on. Not many other cars have such potential with so little money invested. The 95+ cars had better brakes/suspension, but you can replace most all the stuff on the foxbody cars to get them up to today's standards.

You can prob find a much cleaner foxbody for about $5k. Go on autotrader, svtperformance.com , corral.net , stangnet.com

Good luck

I figured that much! Just wasn't sure to what extent looks didn't matter to you!

I been looking, most have rust that are at that price range or they are automatics. My problem is that i only like the notch and not the hatch.

This car is rust free and only issue is really the paint chipping off from a bad repaint. Interior and everything is in great shape though.

Come down and look at it for me

And it's prob close to ~240-250rwhp with the mods listed. The GT40 heads and E303 cam arent exactly the best parts out there for making a ton of hp. They are a definite upgrade over stock, but a typical aftermarket heads/cam/intake would be closer to 300rwhp.

Yea i read up on the e303 cam and how its known to buck and surge at low rpms.

Which this car does, so that would have to be replaced with something else since that bugs me.

Where is the car located?

Also, you are 100% that it's hard to find a good Fox around here in that price. Most are roughly 3-5K more expensive.

If you had the time, I'd tell you to just buy an old 4 cylinder Fox and put a 351 based stoker in it

That probably is the function of the tune. Good thing we have a bunch of great Mustang tuners here in Chicago.

To potential of the notchback is INSANE! You can get the weight down to 3200-3300lbs and mod the shit out of it. The only problem ANY fox bodied mustang has is traction. On my 93 Cobra I had to put subframe connectors, adjustable upper and heavy duty lower control arms on the rear. I used HPM Megabite rear control arms. The beauty of the fox body is the they are SO CHEAP to fix and make fast. DO IT...but get it re-painted!

He won't have any traction issues with those DR's on back.

I just saw a mint 1993 cobra at the carwash yesterday, and now this thread.

Fox mustangs are badass and a ton of fun. Those pics posted above are a few good representations. I wish I had a place to park a 2nd vehicle because I'd like to buy one.

Drag radials don't mean much when you have 70 front 30 rear weight distribution. You NEED to do subframe connectors, upper and lower control arms and weld the tourque boxes.

Had a S-10 pickup, loved it.

I like to be outside the norm. Otherwise i would be rocking a tan color Camry instead.

The car already has subframe connectors and you don't need the torque boxes welded until you run slicks and a gear. The weight distribution of a Fox isn't that biased towards the front. I don't remember off the top of my head, but a SN95 is 59/41.

Edit: I just googled it and found it's 57/43.

All I know is that I had a 93 cobra with a 3.73 grear and I might as well have been driving on ice in first and second gear. Then I did full length subframe connectors...upper and lower control arms and had the tourque baoxes welded with the Wild Rides supports and it was a different car. I'd reccomend that for and Fox Bodied stang!

What tire were you on?

The mods you recommended are what I'd do as well, but are more geared towards drag racing. I put control arms in my 05 Mustang and they took care of wheel hop.

Pretty decent mod list. You can definetly improve on that combo with a new set of heads, intake manifold, and an upgraded cam. The Ford alphabet cams were designed in the mid-late 80's.

Or Monte SS:

Thats about the mods that ANY fox body car is gonna have by now.

Also FWIW you can get them < 3000lbs pretty easily. Aluminum heads drop ~50lbs off the front of the car IIRC.

I still say shop around, to be honest.

That is nice with low miles but still not a fan of the hatch stangs.
