No FR-S owners here anymore. Every single one sold theirs (or are planning to) and bought or will be buying a 2016 RDX so they can get them 8.5 bishes.
If you want a FRS or BRZ, you have to know what you want and what you're getting. No one buys them for luxuries or amenities. If you are unsure, it's not the car for you. You buy one because you want that and only that. They are by no means the car you wander into a dealership and drive out with.
Lol guys I don't need a brochure, maybe you guys got it confused I'm looking for some opinions of transitioning from Acura to your FRS/BRZ and as a commuter where do you stand and how do you compare..
And literally I mean trading my car with my dad as in swapping cars he drives my car and I'll drive the frs .. there's not really a loss for me because I'll be just taking over the payments and they are the same.

so, why the heck did you ask if the FRS used a physical key?

you need a brochure.
...or just ask dad?
...or just go over to dad's?
I'm surprised OP has never been in his dad's car before. I know for a fact that my dad's car does not have push button start because I've been in it before.
The fact that OP's father has a FRS yet OP doesn't know if he doesn't like it is sketchy at best.
Any FR-S Owners wanna give me an insight about their FRS? Or is it worth transitioning from my 2.4 ILX?
I know i will be downgrading my luxuries, but I just love how the FR-S looks and drives.
So you've driven the FR-S before. Why then are you asking if the FR-S has a keyless push to start system or not?

If you've driven one before ("I just love how the FR-S... drives.") shouldn't you know the answer to this?
And this.... ?

Your dad is thinking of getting an FR-S so he can immediately trade it for an ILX? Why not just get an ILX if that's what he wants?

Your dad's going to be $4,000 upside down on the FR-S purchase too?
I suppose I can give some insight since I recently went from a 2004 TL to a 2005 S2000. My TL was fantastic...it had no issues and was paid off, however, I've been wanting a S2k since I was 14. I don't think about the TL at all when driving now. I drive 72+ miles a day and I don't regret buying the S2k at all.
Yes, it only seats two, the trunk is small, the "glovebox" is a joke, the suspension is stiffer, the wheels are staggered, the speakers are trash, and gas mileage isn't as good, but I honestly don't give a shit. It's an absolute blast and much more fun than the TL ever was.

Agree with all you said BUT you bought the S2k knowing exactly what you wanted and what you were getting into. It's not like you strolled into a Honda dealership looking for an Accord sedan and walked out with a S2000 nor would anyone for that matter. Cars like the FRS and S2000 are unique and as such you probably know what you want and what you're getting into when you go buy one.
When I bought my BRZ, I didn't question anything related to the luxurious features or tech amenities. I just loved the driving feel, position, and style. So, I bought it.
I really shouldn't jump to the conclusion, but I will anyway. Judging by OP's first post, he won't like a FRS/BRZ.
