Another Weekend, another Merc.

Invited to another Mercedes dealer, asked me why i did not like the CLK500, since i was approved and i did not do business with there other Merc dealer. Told them i was a combination of a few things.

The Manager invited me down, and he would start all over, and this time "I" could pick out a car i liked rather then the other way around lol

Cut a long story they gave me a 2005 C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan with 13miles on the clock, comes with a supercharged engine and 6-speed manual stick.

200miles later, i like it, despite it been underpowered, the acceleration feels like a TSX, kinda small and still messing around with the seat to get it where it feels comfortable. The interior looks alot better the the CLK 500, leather is alot better.

I get that feeling i'm in a luxury car, underpowered but then again it probably better that way, keep me from racing.

At this point in time. i'd be happy with it, but the bastards @ the dealer are only offering me i think its 12-13K for my 01 CLS with 58K.

The way i look at it, there going have to give me a deal of a life time if they want me to sign and drive a C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan tomorrow.

Now i see why people buy the 04-05 Acura TLs ( yes i've had a few of them), so much more to offer in a car, for less money.

Its coming to the point i don't know what i want, i like the CL, just finding something comparable to it. Even my CL has alot more options more power and this C230, i feel like somewhat i'm downgrading. But paying more money.

Do not downgrade in the power department unless you plan on making up for it Robert.
My CLS had I/H/E/Springs, and then I bought my Integra GS-R, and I really miss the low end power, and overall power that the CLS had. Now yeah I could throw a S/C or Turbo on my GS-R and it will be balls to the wall, but I don't want to do that, I want to get rid of the damn thing, I miss luxury AND performance.
All depends on what your looking for.

Your right Andy, but i'm better of with less HP .... or else i'm going to end up with fighting a 120mph ticket. I can deal with less HP, but less options ?? kinda thinking about it there. I mean the options i would like to have installed like the COMAND DVD Navigation, upgraded sound system, Dr Seat/Steering Col w/Memory 319 Lighting Package.

If i got all these options i'm going to be well over 40K. I might as well save myself 6K and get an 06 TL/Navi and have more HP.

I'd really like to get another coupe, but not interested in the G35, 07 BMW 3series coupe (maybe) 6 series Coupe ..getting better but 70K ??? , CLK 500, not interested.

Like i said i dont know what the hell i want, too many options.. I might just sit and wait..but i'll see what happens tomorrow ..

Can't go wrong with the 3 series coupe, they are very handsome cars.

Personally I like the C230 Kompressor, but your right. I was on the website and started adding options, like HID's and what not, and the price was creeping up waaay to fast.

6 Series coupe is pure Sex

Trust me, I know how frustrating car shopping is, especiall when your an ethusiast/picky shopper.

Whatever you do, don't settle. I think you'd be settling for the C230. Maybe test drive the C320 and see if you like it better?

I don't like MB in general. Given your situation, I'd get an 05 TL 6MT w/ Nav.

A few months back i drove the C320 sport, the thing is the interior, body styling is the excact same as the C230, just a bigger engine, still slower then the CLS, so IMO a waste on $40000+ .

For the best part of 2 months i had an 04 TL and 05TL/NAVI. Just not feeling Acura right considering the main reason i'm selling my CLS is because i drive to many miles, Right now i'm not upside down if i trade it in. I don't want to take a futher loss, . And the other reason is the 100000miles. Not willing to own a car that after 100000miles that could cost me more money of the tranny fails and plus car will be worth nothing, as most people if they do there homework, would not want to buy a CLS and that the chance is there they will have to pay 5000-6000 on a new tranny.

I accept that all cars not matter what car have problems, but i dont accept a $35000 so called luxury semi sports car to basically have a life of only 100000miles.

It just simply does not make sence.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if you like the TL, why don't you get one? I would probably take one over a C230 or a 3 series BMW that costs more.

Ahh, didn't read the whole thread You could always get a 6 speed, which would be a lot more fun.

I downgraded in HP (got a Camry, yikes) but that is also because I drive an average of 4 hrs a day in neighborhoods doing 30-40 mph. I wish I had your dilemma, but if you are happy with the Acura, get the 6MT then.

The dealers are pretty much sticking to blue book at $12.5 I got $13.5 casue I did not argue with their MSRP and I had 100K warranty + the Nav.

If you are going to trade, you pretty mch have to bite the bullet and give away the car in trade or sell yourself.

What's your criteria and budget? I mean to go from a CLK500 to a C230 is a pretty broad range... Kind of like me when I purchased my TSX...

Well since he was looking at the CLK500 and not the CLK320 I figured it was a factor.

And since he said:

I figured that spending about about $55K (still cheaper than the CLK500) for the C55 might make sense since it is one of the best performing cars under $60K while still retaining the luxury he seems to be looking for.

Right, makes sense, but I remember he wasn't all that impressed with the CLK500.

I really like the C55 though. There is a Red/Ebony running around town, hawt

More questions than answers .... lol

Scrib,

The reason i look at a CLK 500 was because Mercedes Credit, gave me a tier 2 credit rateing meaning the i got approved up to 100K. I'd always liked the 2001/2 CLK 430, seemed like the next car for me. But in 2005 they have the CLK 500, the one pictured below is the car they game me for the weekend.

Was not impressed, sure plenty of power, but the interior lacked that 60K feeling, to be honest it felt cheap. Very dissapointed, was told there coming out with a newer better model next year.

YBA,

I don't have a budget, if the car was 100K and i really liked it that much i would go ahead and buy it. But cars are a waste of money, they lose value fast, so i'd rather invest 100K into property, or into investments with the bank i fly for.

Sure i could look at a lease, but in the last 14months i've drove over $30,000miles
so makes no sence, Merc Credit only really go up to 15000miles/yr for leases.

Silver,

I did look at the C55, i'm sure its a fast car, but again all i'm paying for is a bigger engine and wider tires, if it was FULL equiped MAYBE i'd consider it ( navi, upgraded sound system etc....) but there all more expensive options add on top of the MSRP.

Not interested in a C320.

I stoped by the merc dealer today on my way to the aiport, but they could not find my Keys for the CLS go figure.., and told me to keep the C230 sport until thursday... Seems they don't care there going to get a car back i got on saturday with 13miles on the clock, i'm over 300 as of tonight lol .....

They have given me another $2000 of the MSRP, if i sign the papers... i told them i'll think about as i believe there some what desperate, more room for wheeling and dealing lol.... its a amazing, they play more games and tricks then the circus and this is an upscale merc dealer.

If you really want to know what i like, i love the Range Rover, i need something large enough to transport my R/C Jets. But i'd like to have a car too.

Might end up just keeping the CLS and Buying a Land Rover, making 12 payments and then just pay it off, and keep it for aleast 5years.

I know you'd like a coupe but since the 6 series is still very new, did you consider a one or two year old 745i (that's if you find the line appealing)? You won't have to pay for the steep depreciation of the first years since someone got the hit for you. It's a great car to drive. You just have to deal with the I-Drive (which can be upgraded to the latest version which is more user friendly). It's a nice car to drive... The engine is sweet and the car is not sporty enough to feel like throwing it around like a sports car. Also as for equipment, the 745 has probably more equipment than you could use.

I personnally don't like the 7 series because of its size but I can't deny it, it's a nice car.

I had the same issue as you 2 weeks ago... I sold my TSX and started shopping for another car (up to $60K). I tried a bunch of cars from different category. I went from TSX to M3 to G35 to TL to STI... In the end I went back to purchase a new TSX. People think I'm crazy but since I own 2 summer cars, I didn't find it logical to dish out a lot more money on another car (AKA winter car)....

Good luck in your research...

Luc
