Alternator change
Hey Fellas,
Sorry to bother you guys with questions that do not have to do with our cars but this is the best web site, sooooooo, A good friend of mine has a 2000 nissan maxima SE, we spent all day looking on the maxima forum, nissan forum and nothing, can anyone help me here with maybe some pics, with step by step instructions, it would be greatly appreciated, in these economic times, any dollar saved is a dollar earned. Thanks in advance everyone!

They are all slightly different but the principle is the same.

I know on Honda's and Toyota's instead of using a tensioner like the one above they use something called a jacking screw which will tilt the alternator and increase tension on the belt, the maxima might have this. All you have to do is turn the screw in so the alternator moves closer to the center of the engine and you'll see slack on the belt.

if you can't do it with these, don't bother trying.

Step 1. Click on this link --> http://www.oplin.org/databases/proxy...ain.autorefctr
Step 2. Type in "123456789" in the box (w/o the quotes) and click Submit.
Step 3. Select "Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County" from the drop-down box and click Submit.
Step 4. Go down the page until you find the automotive repair category. (Site is down for maintenance right now so I can't tell you exactly what it's called)
Step 5. Enter your car info, find the repair info using the menu on the left.
Step 6. Thank me.
EDIT: Or watch the videos above for reference.
