I'm watchin a news segment on the Aptera right now.

Supposedly it's going to be released in October, and there is already a 4,000 person wait list.

Therefore, neither.

My S2k gets 30 mpg on the freeway when driven moderately, so I see that as a suitable alternative to my gas-guzzling RL.
Bingo! Many cars on the street can achieve decent mileage but it starts with the driver. I can easily achieve 30+ mpg in my Integra (most achieved so far has been 33mpg) and I know I can squeeze out even more with a few engine mods. Very few people are willing to fault themselves and instead fault other factors first.

30+mpg in an s2k or Integra, I'd say that's having your cake and eating it too.

for $27k, I guess it isn't bad... but you gotta factor in other things like... well, aesthetically... I think its fugly... but that's subjective... and also... while it's efficient... it would be inconvenient when you wanna go to the market or Costco. You might be able to travel far, but plan on traveling with little to no luggage...

I'd rather spend a LOT less on a used Yaris before even considering anything like this...

if they could make an engine that will get 320 mpg in that thing, why wouldn't they just market that? use the space that would be occupied by the batteries for extra cabin or luggage space. And in either sense it's ugly as hell, therefore would have a small amount of buyers

There should be a smart car with a hayabusa engine option on this pole
