Said goodbye to the trusty old RAV4 and picked up this '23 KIA Telluride SX Prestige X-Pro. The wife loves it. Nice luxury features like heated/cooled front and second row seats, heads up display, dual screens, Napa leather, yada yada. Sold for over $60k out the door just a year ago. Crazy.
Thanks! Technically different colors, but they're super close. Elantra N is Cyber Gray, Telluride is Wolf Gray. The Wolf Gray is a hair cooler in tone.

Thanks! They're not perfect, but they are a really good value.

When we got my wife her Ioniq 5 we wanted the cyber gray. But they were making the deals on lake placid blue. It’s a nice color in the end. But I like that gray.
Congrats. I am curious on how you feel the Telluride does over time. I was really close to buying one this week but went in a different direction. Our Durango was starting to cost too much to maintain.
After you spend more time with it, I’d be curious to read your opinion / review of the new ride!
Absolutely. I already have quite a few thoughts on it, but I'll save them until we get some more miles on it.

Yes, new they are very expensive, that's why we went pre-owned and let the original owner take the big depreciation hit.

I'm still very happy with my choice to get Cyber Gray. It's a great color.

Thank you. The interior on this one is really what sold us.

I will definitely update the thread once we get some more miles on it. Curious what you ended up going with? For reference, we were also considering a Toyota Highlander or Mazda CX-90.
Do these even take a big depreciation hit? I thought they held value super well.
I had a CX90 as a rental for a trip I took last month, really liked it!
Neighbor just got a new CX90 to replace her CX9, which replaced a 4Runner.
She said she didn't even look at anything else, she was so happy with the CX9
Me, I'd be more interested in the CX70, since we have the Minibus & don't need 2x 3-row SUVs.

The Highlanders are nice but one of the most boring cars I have driven. I really liked the CX-90 but I am not sold on Mazda's reliability. The car itself is awesome to drive. I've had a bunch of them as rentals. We ended up with a 2023 Infiniti QX60 Luxe. 21K miles. Clean inside and out.

The mid level trims, like the EX and SX don't lose much because they're a relative bargain new, but the SX Prestige X-Line and X-Pro do since they retail for over $55,000. The original owners paid $64,000 out the door for ours, which is completely insane to me for a KIA. We got ours for $46,000 out the door, so considering they gave them even less than the $43,600 listing price, they took a $20,000+ hit on it after just a year and seven months of ownership.
Being an enthusiast, the CX-90 was the strongest contender initially, but I did a ton of research on it and while it definitely is supposed to have the best driving dynamics, it's one of the smallest as far as inside room goes and has a completely new engine design/layout with some major flaws in the transmission/driveline that scared me away. But man the Turbo S with the high output turbo inline 6 had me thinking it was going to be our next car.

Very nice, congrats! I agree on the points about the Highlander and CX-90. Those reasons ultimately led us to the Telluride. Plus it was the only SUV that we both really liked the looks of when they first came out in 2019.
First and likely only mod done to the Telluride. J&L oil separator. Caught a decent amount after just 400 miles. The KIA 3.8L V6 GDI has quite a lot of owners that report excessive oil consumption and oil blow by, so I figured I'd be proactive and get an oil catch can and use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 and Wix filter. Time will tell how it holds up.

The oil consumption issues seemed to be pretty scary. It was one of the only reasons we did not get one. That and the fact that the warranty did not transfer to the second owner unless it was certified.

Holy shit that's a lot of oil for only 400 miles! Also, it's pretty milky...guessing mixed with water vapor that condensed? Either way, that's a lot of oil for 400 miles and it might be worthwhile to have it checked out by the dealership if for nothing other than to just start the documentation trail. The Voodoo motor in my old GT350 was world renowned for oil consumption and blow by, the catch can in mine had maybe 30% of that after 1 year and 4k miles.
The type of oil and oil filter won't matter for dealing with this issue, just make sure you keep checking the dipstick to make sure you're not going to run low is going to be your biggest thing to do.
^ That's exactly right. It's just the winter water/fuel/oil mixture that these type of OCCs collect. The Charger looked the same as does the Elantra N. I'm just glad that crap isn't going back through the intake manifold. Also, it's a tiny catch can, only 3oz capacity, so the photo is deceiving and it's really only about maybe a tablespoon worth of liquid in actuality.
