I have an 03 TL-S. I love my car but its time to move on. Im looking at an 07-08 TL Type S, an 07-08 Infiniti G35, and an 08 Suburu Legacy GT or 3.0R. Ive driven all 3 but havent gotten a chance to really open up the Legacy....yet. Im still feeling a little iffy about the power. Anyone here have better experience with em? Im leaning towards the G35 at the moment but theyre still pretty pricey. Opinions welcomed....

i would say go with the TLS, but ofcourse I am a little biased as i own one. the g35 is pretty nice too ... i would say you cant go wrong with either. the subaru is a no from me ... i wouldnt even consider it the same class as the other two

Really? Not at all? I drove one today at a Lexus dealership. It was in immaculate condition, had touch screen navi, leather, tiptronic, paddleshifts etc. Only problem is that its the only experience I have with that car....I think I need to drive it for a few days to gather a better opinion on it

i guess i was never really a fan of any subaru, so i've never really looked into them much to know much about them. hey, they are japanese though so i am sure they are reliable cars

Yes on all counts but I live in NY. Our winters are bad enough to stay away from rwd imo. Thats why I'll only consider the g35x but you are right about the price
Im being patient though. Im in no rush to grab a car right this minute.

If you are looking at a Subaru, go to the following link:

They are in upstate, just outside of Rochester (about 6 hours drive from you). But you can price your car there, and see if a local dealer will beat it. They say they will beat anyone (legitimate Subaru dealers) and be under invoice of any reputable car book (Edmunds, Kelley, etc...).

The GT can only be had with the 6MT. And a GT can always be modified with a Cobb Access Port. I test drove a 3.0R in June. It is a nice cruiser, with decent power. If you will never modify the car, the 3.0 is very smooth. If you want a manual, then the GT is the way to go. And push the GT pretty hard and it will be fine.

The Legacy GT would be my pick, it's got the most potential as far as power goes and if you're not wanting RWD anyways may as well go AWD.

Agreed. My friend has the GT, and it is way underrated. I say get that. It's AWD, and get it with leather and navi.

+1, and ive considered Infinity's before, but just bring myself to purchase one. Honda product always wins out over them for me.

TL-S or GT for me as well.

Too many people have the G around here, so that's a big turn off for me. Plus, it's not as practical. 4 doors FTW

Too many people have the G in my area as well but, I'd take a 2G G35 over the LGT though not necessarily the TL-S.

I've found that the TL-S is one of the few FWDs -- if not the only FWD -- that I can push (pun?) hard without much regard for it's FWD layout. It's an impressive sports sedan and definitely a tossup vs the G35.

I didnt think so many of you guys would go for the Subie. I love the styling but just wish it had a little more power. I honestly dont think it can keep up with the other 2. The type S is great but the ride is so harsh. I think its even worse than my 03 when it comes to comfort (still debating in my head whether I can deal with it or adjust it somehow). The G is the best compromise, pretty comfortable and definitely fast. Plus I had the opportunity to drive one for a week so I know what its capable of. I just need to test drive the other 2 a few more times. I want to be happy with what I spend my money on.

However there a fair number of active Azine members who are generally none too warm towards Nissan/Infiniti products. (NOTE: I'm NOT one of them.) Hence, a number of polls which include an Infiniti product may show the Infiniti model running towards the bottom.

Everyone is saying the G35 is pricey? How much more is it than the TL-S in the used car market?

Ive seen them both stretch from 19-26 with the G's being more consistently expensive unless you go up in mileage...

Yes, Im actually one of them Ive owned 2maximas (99, and 01) and I had terrible experiences with nissans customer service. But that 3.5 it may just bring me back...

Aside from a defective throttle body (05 Murano) and MAF sensor (02 Maxima), my experiences with my Murano, Maxima and even 2000 Quest have been LARGELY favorable....as has my son's experience with his 05 Alti 3.5SE.

I wouldn't use customer service experiences (read: dealer) as deciding factor on the products themselves mainly because that's hit or miss. (But I do understand if one does choose to factor that in.) The service at my home dealership was but props to Deland Nissan for coming immediately to the rescue when my TB tanked out while on vacation down in Florida. They had me in and out in under two hours on a Saturday, no less.

As far as prices go, 07-08 TL-S prices seem to be more or less on par with 2G G35 prices but I chalk it up to the TL-S being on the "lowside" pricewise only because it's effectively an older styled TL model having debuted for the 2004MY. On the otherhand, the 2G G35 is still a current generation G so, it is inclined to carry a current generation 'premium'.

If it's power you're wanting, the LGT has a good aftermarket. You can crank 300 - 350 HP out of those motors, and they're pretty reliable. But I may be biased.

Just like you said, get some seat time and you will find your car. Also consider overall cost of ownership. Services for each do add up.

I actually test drove all three as well when I was shopping, and was very close to pulling the trigger on the G, but I just can't get over the interior. TL-S was the best bang for the buck in all categories, for my situation.

Trust me when I say my experiences with Nissan were terrible enough to turn me away from the company. Too many negatives to list. I could make another thread about it but lets just say I was a happy man when I finally traded in that POS for my 03 TL 4yrs ago. Aside from my typical issue with the transmission (I went thru 2 and they were both covered under warranty so I never paid a dime) it was a great car. I only paid out of pocket for routine maintainence and it drove great. Plus Acuras customer service was never anything short of excellent. Id prefer to stay with them if possible.

I love a powerful motor as much as the next man but im not too into modifying my car. Other than a few cosmetic changes my cars were all relatively stock I also prefer silence. Most modifications tend to increase the decibel level. But I have no doubts whatsoever about the boxer engine's potential. The acura seems to be the loudest of the group but its tolerable, and the VQ is smooth. I love the subie for what it is (good looks, all wheel drive, sporty handling, decent acceleration) but that con list is starting to build (smallest interior, no HID, slowest of the group) after some continuing research and comparisons between the 3. Im still breezing thru the forums and looking at what the owners have to say about the car so my mind still isnt completely made up.

20....I may even throw a camry in the mix (se models only)

Yeah, I looked at a 2010 Camry SE V6 before buying my TL. They are good cars, but the interior is really low class/boring. It wasn't as fun to drive as the TL was plus the TL has an excellent interior/exterior. I'm really glad I went with a TL.

effing thats my next issue. Im thinking I may be able to customize it a bit after I buy IF I decide on it. Fun factor is another problem. My mother has an es350 and you can feel a good bit of power from that engine but with that soft suspension and cushy ride the car is such a yawn

Unless you are talking about auto versions of these cars, I am surprised you think the lgt is slower than the tls. I drove both in mt a over the past two dys and the lgt is much faster in real world driving conditions than the tls.

I also drove a ms6 which was also considerably faster than a tls. Much more fun to drive IMO.

For a comfy stylish cruiser, tls is great. For performance, many cars for the money perform much better.

G35x probably outperforms the other cars. TL-S is nice tho, Legacy is alright. Depends on your budget if you have the money the G is the best bet.

Could you find a 2005-2006 330xi for that price? It may not be the most powerful but I'd be willing to bet it's the most fun to drive.

Go with the 07-08 TL. I think they look the best out of the 3, and I just love the way they drive. I get to drive them every day at work, and I enjoy every time I get to. It's my next car I'm buying.
