ACURA TL :( C&D

Okay plz tell me an 08 camry can't beat our car in a race WRONG. Car and drive posted these topics- http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...ure+page-2.html

Jeeze why the fuck is our car so slow compared to big heavy trucks and suvs, and smaller cheaper cars like a dam carmy that can beat our car, this freaking sucks, glad im returning this car in 2011 and getting a g35.
And before u guys flame me i don't really care b/c these are facts and they should ban acura from the car market, they never listen to the dam customers, will never add rwd b/c there dumbass. Even a freaking chevy malibu can kill our car.

Not trying to agree with the OP, but the TL should be respectable. And respectable means being faster than a Camry. I mean, isn't the Lexus GS series in the same class as the TL? OR even the IS? I have to say that the TL being slower than a Camry is embarrassing.

So, the TL should be 300 HP with SH-AWD. The RL should be about 380 HP with SH-AWD. That would make them competitive with their peers.

OP if you were so focused on a fast car why did you get a TL. And you need to remember you are basing it off of a car that was designed in 2004, where as the Camary was redesigned after that (can't think of the exact year off my head) so toyota had a better idea of the market at the time to design the car

I'm not sure. I guess the specs say it's slow, but any time i have ever been on the road and messed around with other cars the TL seems to prevail. Also for top end speed the TL is perfect. I have had my car up to 150 + or - 3 MPH and that car felt just as good as it did at 50

Meh, I think because of the increase in gas prices in the next few years you are going to see and end to the horsepower race going on in America. For the last few years every manufacture has been pumping more and more horsepower into the American market because that was the demand, but because of gas prices I think the demand will go down. Other countries don't have the same horsepower race going on because of their higher costs in gas but now we are in the same place. It sucks but it is reality.

Also the way I see it a camry is similar to an accord, so is it really that bad? and a camry can end up costing similar to a TL if you load it.

Okay so the tl isn't to good 0-60 6.7. Would 60-120 be better b/c of vtec, or b/c there is more midrange torque. And would the tl be better from a stop, or rolling.

The new Camry V6 is a quick car, you shouldn't be ashamed that its faster than the TL. It is nothing like the older and much slower Camry V6. Hell its even faster than a G35, I can tell you that for a fact.

People read into mags too much....what are the chances of you actually being lined up with any of these cars at a redlight...let alone one willing to race. If you want a REAL sports car, then buy one and stop bitching. I think i've only raced ONE G35 sedan in my entire time having the car....people that buy these cars generally don't race.

Yeah, I don't think you'll find many people a Camry V6 using their cars to their potential, even if they think they want to.

Unfortunately, the OP hates math.

2008 Acura TL w/Auto - 3623lbs and 258hp
2008 Camry w/Auto - 3516lbs and 268hp

So the Camry has +10hp and -107lbs and a 6AT instead of the Acura's 5AT.

Not really that surprising.

what tl are you thinking of? you get this from consumer reports didnt you?

motor trend posts 6.2 auto, r&t 6.3, etc, c&d 6.0 or so. dont trust con. reports for 0-60 time. they think 8 seconds to 60 is REALLY fast

This new gen camry is the best one ever released by Toyota hands down. It's a serious car (the v6 trim with all the tricks.)

It's hard to admit it but if you took all the features with it loaded and put it list by list compared to what an acura TL has and didnt show the names of the vehicles, im sure you'd probably find alot of similarities.

If you wanted a fast sport sedan (and wanted to pay less money) the Legacy GT seems right up your alley. 0-60 in 5.23 seconds
Now you can smoke a Camry V6 too.

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...73232177538731

Oh, and by the way, driving the Camry is like driving a bathtub filled with jell-o.

You're not talking about the spec B. are you?

I also drove a GT when i was looking at cars. It felt very quick and light on its feet. Overall a very good driving experience. I just didn't like the interior, plus they didn't want to move on price. My next car however....

Lol u must be stupid to think its faster then the g35. The camry does 0-60 in 5.9 sec to 6.0 sec and then after 0-60 like 60-120 its slow. Thats bearlly faster then the auto tl. The g35 does 0-60 5.4 secs and pulls so hard after that. If you had a auto tl doing a rolling race the tl would pull much harder then the camry and the tl would win.
