Acura CL-S, Infiniti G35c & FX*5...(long)
Well I car shopping tonight and I'm coming closer and closer to purchasing a CL Type S. I went into Island Acura on Sunrise tonight and was quoted $30920 on a 2003 Anthracite Acura CL Type S w/ Navi, Wheel Locks, Spoiler & Mudguards. That is before (T)ax(T)itle(L)icense.
No haggling because I'm not in any rush to buy (yeah right) and after some BSing with the salesmen about various stuff I was on my way.
Infiniti of Massapequa is right down the road and the new G35c has been in the back of my mind ever since I got word of its release. So I went on down and first and foremost the Salesman at Infiniti was just 100x times better than the one at Acura. I thought I was buying a suit from this guy at Infiniti, the salesman at Acura just reminded me of an off duty/retired cop. In all fairness I liked the Acura salesman but it definitely was night and day.
Anyway I sat in the G35c and it took no more than 5 seconds to realize this wasn't the car for me. It had nothing to do with the interior layout, even though I still think Acura's is better, the Infiniti definitely wasn't that bad at all. It also had nothing to do with what was under the hood. Where it went bad was with the interior room. Holy shnike's there was absolutely no way I could get comfortable in there. I'm 6'1" 260lbs and I知 by no means fat or overweight but the freaking lower bolsters in the seat was making it near impossible to move my right foot from gas to brake comfortably. The roofline was to low and I just felt highly claustrophobic in there. Its obvious this car comes right from the Z, and its sports car roots are really evident. Certainly a nice car but it doesn't matter how fast it is or how well it handles. If I知 not comfortable sitting in it, there's no way I知 buying it.
However I wasn't done there cuz the salesman pointed me over to the nicely equipped FX45 sitting on the other end of the sales floor. This sucker is gonna turn some heads out on the road. A bit of a reminder to the PT Cruiser on the outside, the inside was anything but. Just a flawless interior. Now this sucker I fit into fine and I felt like I could drive for days. Everything is laid out great and you can feel like the 47k price tag is justified. Well sort of.
I wasn't able to drive the FX but with the amount of baiting from the salesman I値l definitely be back.
So I walked into the Infiniti dealership looking to add another coupe to the short list of coupes I知 considering, the only other being the CL, and now I just added the FX to that very short list. The two cars are night and day but to each his own cuz its my money and I知 looking at all the options.
If anyone hasn't been down to their local Infiniti dealership yet, I remember Beltfed was but I don't remember if he test drove the FX yet, go on down you'll be surprised to see just how fast Infiniti is coming up on the competition.
I'll keep ya posted on the final choice.

Chaptorial...I am guessing that you are going from a gen 1 CL to a Gen 2? You have way too many posts to be a person that "just stops by".
That being said, I have had my CL-S for 3 months now and look forward to driving it every time. No complaints. I never test drove the G35 coupe but did sit in the Sedan. It just wasn't my style inside but I do love the looks of the G35C outside. Love it actually. I had a terrible problem with the arrogance of both the Nissan and Infinit sales people when I was shopping...I think they are getting too much press right now. Acura wasn't as bad and the place that I bought at was GREAT (Sunnyside, NH). The FX is a nice looking car (?) and I like it a lot but you are talking apples and oranges at that point...G35, CL-s are similar enough...but to wonder about the FX makes me think that you don't know what you want yet? Good luck! A car is a good friend for along time! Choose well.

FX 35 !!!!!! all the way
I saw one of those tonight. awesome! i had a 01 cl-s and wouldnt think twice about choosing a FX over the new 03 six speed. granted they are about as different as you can get but do realize that with (opional 20's) the FX has better road holding and braking than the Cl. or for that matter the merc ML-55, or the BMW X5 4.6 (both 60-70 g's). if you can swing it get the FX!! the options with get the sticker up there but... the sports package alone is $3900. but then again 30, for an 03 cls isnt bad, especially with the options you have. good luck.

You would be still buying an SUV.... a truk like handling... it would never handles like a sports car.. cause of the weight... nice to have roomy and comfy MDX-like (plus on size) ride....
But please remeber this is not your M3!!

I'm sorry but 260lbs on a 6'1" frame spells future heart attack. Whether you're fat OR all muscle mass it's just too much stress on the heart to pump that much.
