Active Noise Cancellation System (ANC) & Mods
I did my search and my read here, and have not come across these two questions. Since it's not model specific, I'll post it in here.
1. We can all agree that when cars get older, it will get louder. It could be the engine or the exhaust. Will ANC compensate for that? I'm not talking about a hole in the muffler. I'm sure that is not within the range set by Honda for the ANC to work.
2. What about modifications? What if we installed an intake or exhaust? How does that affect the ANC?

ANC uses a mic to pick up unwanted road noise, and an "inverse" sound is played through the car's speakers and woofer to help cancel out some of the sounds. Will it affect things like a CAI, probably not. Will it affect an exhaust, maybe.
It's primarily designed to help keep motor noise, tire noise and wind noise down. In a sense it will compensate but not to the point where it's quiet like a Rolls Royce.

However, I also read if it ANC is not working, it will leave a strange sound or buzz coming from the speakers.
So if we can't tell if it works or not. We can tell when it's NOT working (?).
My reason for asking my original question is, I was wondering if ANC would help cancel out exhaust drones. Thinking of an exhaust system.

That's it's intended purpose but keep in mind it has a decibel limit before it starts creating unwanted noise. Inverse destructive Harmonization has to have an equal rate (hz) as the wave it is canceling, if your exhaust is super loud then the stereo will not be able to drown it out because of mfr limits set on the system.
