About to put car on market, good idea to take off tints?

I have 5% all around. I just want to know if that would hurt the value. I really don't want to put another nickel on this car, I called the tints place, and they want $90 to take the tints off.

Any help is appreciated.

5% is pretty dark for tints. Doubt I would want a car with it.

If you want to remove the tints then im sure it will help.

Why not just give the buyer an option?

OP said he has 5% all around and called the tints place. If the OP has tint on the rear window, maybe the place that applies tint professionally (or tints things) said, "It's $15 for each side tint and $30 for the rear tint so for all the tints to come off it'll be $90."

^ Nope, it's still wrong. Tint is the singular and plural.

As for the question at hand... leave it up to the buyer.

One complete application = Tint.

Putting another on top of the first = Tints.

if you're taking pictures, the car will probably look better with the tint.
and if when someone does come to check out the car, just tell them that you can get the tint taken off if they want.

Edit-I just reread and realized it was for a civic, you can probably leave it, some little kid will think it looks gangsta and beg his dad to buy it for him!

wouldn't you call it tint for 1 sheet of tint, but since you have all the windows done wouldn't it be tint sheets or tints for short

And for the record, tint. Leave it on. If they want it of, tell them you'll do it.

BTW, tint is one coloured and light transmitting film, while tints are films of multiple colours and/or light transmission. Many places, like mine, have different % light transmission laws for the front/back and rear windows. So yes, a car can have tints.

In any event, English is a truly retarded, irregular language so there's little point to being anal about it. Like, why are pants called "pants", or "a pair of pants"? Who the fuck wears one pant?

I bought a used car a while back that happened to come with 20% TINT all around, decided to give it to my driver to use it to pick up and drop off cars, kept getting tickets all the time for the TINT being too dark, so I took the front window (Front driver and passenger door windows) TINT off and left the rear window TINT the way it is, haven't gotten a TINT ticket since.

IMO 5% TINT is way too dark. I would take it off, or advertise the sale with the option for you to remove it at the person's request.

Don't pay $90 to get it taken off. Take a razor blade and remove it yourself for free. It's not too bad to do.

And yeah, leave it up to the buyer.

The mods should make Sarlacc's post a Sticky at the top of Car Talk and ban anyone who says "tints."

When in verb form it can be "tints". For example: Pedro loves dark windows. He tints his windows daily.

When in noun form, referring to dark film that covers a window, the plural is "tint". Example: I have 15% tint on my windows. It is used in the same context as sheep.

If you say, "Wow, there are many different tints (as in shades or hues) to that color.", then an "s" is OK in that context.

In other words, you don't pack 12 sheeps behind your 5% tints.

Actually, you bring up something interesting: A shade is a colour mixed with black while a tint is a colour mixed with white.

A tint film tints white light that is shining through it but it shades coloured light. Since a lot of people care more about how tints make a car look from the outside, the better term would be shades.

Btw sho_nuff, why bring up sheep as an example? Are you hanging around Sarlacc too much? Better, related words are colour/colours or paint/paints.
