about the new TL....
i was browsing through the Auto News section and read this....
its talking about the V6 that shuts off 3 cylinders when cruising to conserve gas. well this sounds like its pretty official and it mentions the new Inspire that we all know and love as the TL. you think this will show up here in the tl or what?
......
wait a sec, i just checked the Japanese Honda site and it appears the New Inspire is the Accord Sedan with some minor styling differences? well whats the deal with the TL? will it be in Japan as a new model or what the hell is going on?
This new powertrain will debut in the new Inspire sedan scheduled for release in Japan this month.

Well, I don't know about the new TL, but shutting off cylinders to conserve fuel is not a new idea. They had those back in the 60's, but they were 8 cylinders that would shut off as many as 4 of the cylinders. They didn't work too well, however.
Did you know that your V6 engine can shut down the fuel entirely while coasting/decelerating? Almost all engines to that these days to conserve fuel.

Yup definitely an Accord
MB uses that cylinder shutdown technology in their V12s too.
What crazy is that the Inspire looks like its going to have a version of adaptive cruise control that can keep pace with the car in front too!! Thats pretty sweet for an Accord, but I wish I understood Japanese so I could hear what they were saying in those videos!

The owners of the company I work for had a 80's or early 90's caddy with a wired rear end, that had the shut down tech. It would go from 4 to 6 to 8 cylinders and they were nothing but trouble. GM cancelled them the next year of so......Any older times remember these ?

Not for nuthin bro but I've heard like 20 different rumors on the new TL from this site on 270hp, 280hp, 300hp, AWD, RWD, Type-S and no Type-S. Basically what I'm saying is I'll believe it when I see it...which will probably be before anyone here...I work at Rallye Acura. Honda has been saying a whole bunch of different specs on all their new models. When I see or hear first word for sure...I'll let everyone know. Thanks for the link though.

hmm, that would be amusing. introducing the all new 2004 acura tl, sales would still probably increase. i wish they included the hood and bodykit on our accord, removes some of the dullness.
