Sure you add more power, decrease the weight and the times will decrease some... but it's at the point where traction is keeping it from using all its power.
The C6's biggest enemy is traction. The ZR1 adds more power, decreases some weight, fatter tires maybe? It does nothing to mitigate the traction issue.
The GT-R's biggest enemy is weight (and lower on power than the Z06), but the V-Spec resolves both these issues by dropping weight.

you do have a point... it will be interesting to see how they all match up though...

Not your standard GT-R at 3470lbs. and 550hp.
Add outstandingly engineered suspension and AWD system.....
7:25 at the ring? Sure, why not.
Still fat and ugly though. Ain't nuthin' going to change that.

That is not anywhere close to the V-Specs 7:25's.
But, we will see when the real results come out.

Still fat (inches not so much pounds now) and ugly but as I have said before more respect every day but not my cup of tea.
Like the saying goes an fat chick is like a moped, fun to ride but you don't want your friends to catch you on one.

Also these times for the V-Spec are hearsay, not official. Hell we havent even seen "official" times for the GTR yet have we?

Z06 : GT3
ZR1 : TT
The Z06 was designed as a balls-out racer. The ZR1 is not being designed with that scope. It does have bigger brakes but I think that is a counter-measure for the additional power and nothing else.

Leading up to the official reveal of the Corvette ZR-1, a rare week went by when we didn't see spy shots of the General's new super coupe eating up the Nurburgring. But still images don't tell the whole tale, so InsideLine sent its spies to the North Loop with a video camera to capture an uncloaked ZR-1 making the rounds on the 'Ring. According to the men behind the lens, they were able to clock the 620 hp, supercharged 'Vette running laps "in the low 7:40s," easily within reach of supercars costing substantially more than the ZR-1's estimated $100k price tag. But what about the elephant on the 'Ring in the room? The Nissan GT-R V-Spec.
As reported earlier this week, spies caught the GT-R V-Spec lapping the Nordschleife, and with stopwatches at the ready, they were able to time Godzilla's lightweight (by an estimated 330 pounds), more powerful (70 hp or so) sibling at an unbelievable 7:25 per lap. According to the crew that crudely timed the ZR-1, the track was damp, so that 7:40 time could easily be improved by at least four or five seconds. But that's still a long way off.
Obviously, both lap times should be taken with a grain of salt considering the less-than-accurate way in which they were captured, but that won't stop the smack-talk. Keep it civil folks!

The car you choose to drive is an extension of yourself - and, it says things about your personality and preference - like many other things in life. Even the cars you LIKE say something about your personality and preference. You think just because a car runs 7:25 at the Ring people are AUTOMATICALLY required to like it? That kind of uhh, makes no sense.

^^ thanks - I don't "hate" this car, nor have I ever alluded to that. I would love to have one parked in my garage - but I wouldn't pay for it because I don't like it. So it would have to be a prize of some sort.. or, a gift. And, I would love it then. lol

I just got the new R&T the other day and I believe it said the ZR1 times around the ring were in pretty wet and cold conditions, so on a dry day it'll be much closer to the GT-Rs times.

GT-R is hot looking. Period. I am certain if it had an AcuHonda badge on it and was FW...er..."SH-AWD" (rather than that lame ATTESA-E-TS), the consensus here would be .

I've never seen so many people being so defensive of the GT-R as on AZ. But I haven't visited a GTR forum though.
No one hates or has an agenda against the GT-R on here, as far as I've seen. I'm sure almost all of us would gladly accept an R34 GTR and would look forward to driving it. People who don't like the GT-R are jealous of it.... I see now.
Even when I used to be the biggest Honda fanboydouchebag ever I still thought the Corvette and R34 looked great. I can see it now.... next, we will be called idiots for not liking the GT-R. Or is it too late to call it?
I have no qualms with the GT-R, but with fanboys being as rampant as they are I feel as if I have no choice but to hope that the ZR1 obliterates it so they can finally shut up about their conspiracy theories for once.

I do not think we are defensive. Rather, annoyed at the those who put the GT-R's "controversial" form over its function. (If one did not see the GT-R pics, the comments could cause some to assume Nissan bolted the VR38-ATTESA powertrain to a Pontiac Aztec.) To wit, it may not be as sexy (or as effeminate) as the G37 but looks are subjective.
That said, the premise of this thread is the GT-R V-Spec's 7:25 'ring time....which clearly centers on the aforementioned function.

Any car maker can a nuclear bomb into a car, it’s the one that make it works that counts. The ENZO I believe makes one hell of a track car, but doesn’t have the HP numbers as the new Vette or Veryon. An equal amount of emphasis went to the cars power and handling.
Actually the Enzo makes substantially more HP than the Z06 and more than reported for the ZR-1 at over 650hp!
Sriika was right on point in the GT3/TT-- Z06/ZR-1 comparison the former are more gard core track cars and the latter more GT cars and even with less horsepower the hard core cars will be close to are surpass the GTs on the track, even HP tracks like the N'ring.
I also can't understand why an enthusiast HAS to like a car just because it is quick at the track, respect sure but like.... just stupid. Preference is preference and if cars were JUST track times no one would even consider something like the GT-R it would be Nobles and Caterhams etc. There are things cars offer that can not be quantified by a stopwatch, add to that the TINY percentage of performance cars that are actually tracked. If I was racing (a stock car) on the weekends for money and the only "formula" for the car was that it was pure stock, cost less than $100K new and is a true production road car then I would be racing a GT-R, if however I was tracking the car for fun (based on the reviews) I would pick something less sanitary but more pleasurable like a 911, Exige et al. If it wasn't for "work" why would anyone spend 80K on ANYTHING they thought was ugly?

Personally I'm just disappointed that it looks the way it does. Lets rhetorically say that the G37 or R34 body style never existed, but instead the new GT-R looked exactly like either one and was offered with a 6-speed manual, clutch pedal and everything I'd be drooling over it.
And personally I'm not excited about either lap times of the GT-R V-Spec or ZR1 because they aren't official yet. Still, they shouldn't be too off.
