3rd Row SUVs
Unless you have more than 3 kids I don't think a van is necessary. We drove across country from NYC to San Francisco in an 85 accord and were fine. The width of an SUV is plenty large enough for a Family of 4. How much luggage do you all have? We drove our two kids (ages 4 & 6) down to LA (5 Hours) in our Q50 and were fine with space and luggage and I have the Hybrid with the smaller trunk! I'd go for the Explorer because I think it looks the best, has plenty of space and is comfortable inside.
Already purchased a Flex.

My wife's business also motivated the upgrade to an SUV. She has a lot of inventory to carry & it was just barely filling my TL to the seams.

As a Mom of 3 almost grown young men, I absolutely loved my first and second Grand Caravans when the boys were young. They were born within 6 years, so yes, we had 2 car seats at one time. All you men with no children should not reply to this post, as you have no concept of pulling off the side of a road into a parking lot and changing diapers, or fixing bottles, or stopping to find dropped or thrown pacifiers.
I could spend days extolling the virtues of the minivan, but I won't bore you. If you choose not to go the minivan route, consider my current vehicle (or earlier model for the price) and that is the 2013 Acura MDX. It has lots of cargo room, a folding 3rd row seat, and I love the entertainment package (my last van had one as well) to keep the kids busy when Mom has to take a call or just needs a little peace and quiet.
I found the Durango to be more truck like. It's okay if you like trucks, I don't. I considered the Honda Pilot but preferred the Acura. As a former Honda Accord owner, I really wanted to like the Pilot, but it just didn't work for me.

I have twins. And we had a Prius for the first 18 months...
Funny you found the Durango truck like. I find it very car like as does my wife. My grand Cherokee prior was truck like. And my wife picked the Cherokee limited over the trailhawk because it was too truck like. But that isn't what I've heard used to describe my car...unless you mean in looks.
