35mph Collision????
Sup guys, not a story about my CL-S thank god. But thought I'd share. Here are pics of my sister in-laws accident from the other night. Some fools ran a red and t-boned her. They say she ran the red and that they were 90' away going 35mph when they saw her running red. Isn't that some BS. Well here's the pics, tell me what yall think.

The position of the car is where it ended up after she was hit. It jumped a curb and ended up in middle of island.

Waiting for report last I heard. She was ambulanced to hosp. for chest pain and burns from air bags before cops showed up. The cops think the others drivers story was BS though.

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
If anything, that's less than 35mph. I was going about 25mph when my CL got hit, the other guy was going about 15-20mph, and my CL got totaled (pics on this thread), with over $20k in damages. Since it was almost head-on, the total force of impact was around 40mph. The other car (a 94 accord 4dr) spun 180 degrees and hit a lightpost, his rear bumper hit my driver's side door - that's how quick he spun. My car went off on about a 60 degree angle, up a curb's handicap ramp, and ended up between a tree and a brick wall. The accord was also totaled, and parts of his engine compartment were all over the sidewalk.
People think you need to be going like 50mph to get in a bad accident - you don't!
That's just my experience. When I vounteered as an EMT I saw more fucked up shit like cars ending up on top of each other. But I can't say for sure what speeds they were going. At least in my case I know how fast I was going.

Hmmmm that's interesting. I agree you don't need to be going that fast to get really hurt or do a lot of damage. I spent the better part of 2 years working in the ER of a level 1 trauma center here in Houston so I know. However, not to belittle your experience, I'm sorry to hear about it. If you look at the pic, you can tell the side impact beams are bent. Now side impact beams are meant to prevent intrusion, not shown in these pics are the squeezed front and rear seat, showing intrusion. Also, if you look at the damage of the other car, an American car, <35mph collision does not cause that much damage to American cars. I've been an accident where my Japanese car looked like was in a 50mph accident and the Cougar looked like it rubbed up against a body panel. Also from the other drivers story if she were going 35mph, at 90' away from an intersection she should have been able to stop. In the pic w/ my brother in-law, the tree in the distance, which is difficult to see, is app. 90' away. Pretty good distance don't you think? You also have to remember, this was side impact, no head on. You said so your self total force of impact was 40mph w/ your accident.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOO 200+ post. Finally. Anyways, yeah she's ok just bruises and burns from airbag. Thanks for asking dude. On passenger side? Yeah we were curious what hit it. We figured it was airbag. No was in the car but her, thank goodness. Anyone on the passenger side would be in a world of hurt.
