it seems to me like the best bet is to get the Touring Model in a 6MT.

because it says that model comes with all the performance model equipment...

so then the only difference between that and the track model is the brembos and the lightweight wheels.

but i will get aftermarket wheels anyway, and the brembos, cost less then the 3k difference between the 2 models... so...

riiight.

but whats the point if another version comes out in 03 with 335hp. fuck

Well I guess that, plus NAVI, plus all options, will put this back near $40,000 like the mid-90's model. I can't wait to see the performance numbers there.

Also, It will definatly be interesting to see if this car is plauged with first-year-model problems. Maybe that price is too good to be true - but I think it will be fine. They seem to have striped enough off the interior to bring down the price, not unlike the Altima. Not that that's a bad thing, either. You still get enough cool features, pretty comperable to the CL-S. Who needs back seats? =)

Tim from ACP has one at http://www.nissanfairladyz.com

I'm switching to the Z also (as long as everything looks as good in person as it does in those numbers and pictures...)

Daytona blue looks awesome, looks like you can't get the light silver with the orange interior (that combo is shown in pictures, weird).

I would pissed though, if I bought it...then like 6-8 months later they come out with a Turbo. Might as well wait out my lease, because the Turbo is definitely going to show at some point soon.

At this price, it's kind of competing with the S2000. In that decision, I'd take the Z without hesitation. Looks like you get a lot more CL type interior features with the Z.

Hey Soopa,

How much is your insurance gonna be if you buy this car......5,000 a month ???
And that’s BEFORE you start racking up more tickets.

Soopa needs some nice lawyers so he could get the Z. Otherwise I would be scared if he had some road rage!

where can you buy a lancer evo??? i'd love one of those. but don't they "dumb" 'em down to meet emissions? plus i would think they cost a lot more than 31k. and my thoughts on the new z, i like. like soopa said though, gotta drive it first, but i'm sure it'll drive better than our boat.

Forget about the points. Time for a fake identity.

One for the insurance
One for the road

But, getting caught with a fake idenitity

All of the colors I've seen look great. I have to ring up local Nissan dealer.

Like the Z but......................

If Nissan isn't careful they will wind up pricing themselves out of the sports coupe market once again. I would hate to see prices creep into the mid 30's again because that's what killed the sports car market in the first place. Granted the Enthusiast model seems like a reasonable choice, but look how little more you get in the Performance model for $2,200 more--unless they are upping the horsepower, you only get 18" and VDC. We're already in the $30+K range and that's still w/o leather. I probably would pop for the Touring model, although the Track model looks very interesting indeed. I don't think you'll be seeing any discounts soon since this is so new. More likely sticker+ until things settle down. (Saw a new T-Bird at auction with 102 miles and they still wanted $42,500 reserve.)

The new Nissan/Infiniti offerings will indeed cause market upheaval, if they live up to specs and suffer no fatal flaws. There's no reason to believe that fatal flaws will occur (Nissan is certainly not wet behind the ears), but we'll have to wait to see if these cars are actually inspiring to drive.

I think the Touring model w/5AT would be a realistic pick for me, although I would try to fit the car with the Brembo brakes (they may need the 18" wheels to fit). I'm a little surprised that all automatic models will not be equipped w/VDC, as I would think that manual drivers (assumption: driving enthusiasts who know how to make a car dance) would disengage the system more often.

And a viscous limited-slip differential??? That's the first indication of cost-cutting. Either equip the cars with Torsens or have a clutch-type available as an option.

I think those rims you've got on there are only painted on the circumference. Either that or they've started making 10-section tires! Is that like an inch of sidewall?

Sure you can...obviously you will have to test drive it first, but I think this car is going to be more exciting than the current CL or a 2003- there, I said it.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again, that is the cleanest, sweetest CL I have ever seen. That is SICK.

On to the Z, there is NO CAR messing with it at it's price, oh my and it's a looker too. Wow, I am impressed....

I think the most important thing is that there will be a lotta aftermarket support as well as factory warrantied Nismo parts.

Come on Acura, where's Mugen?

Really? NISMO? I thought everything for the VQ was essentially done by Stillen or Wolf? The VQ has basically no factory support from Nissan, even with the Z...they had Stillen design their special edition...

True, only problem is that Nismo parts are somewhat expensive...Mugen is a complete ass rape, by the time your done with a few Mugen goodies..its like $4k.

Nissan has annouced that Nismo will be here in Fall 2002. Nismo should be supporting the Sentra, Maxima, and 350Z to begin with. I think Nismo is putting emphasis on the Sentra SE-R.

Be careful..

Nissan builds good cars but hardly won't help w/any service issues w/dealers (or lack of it!) this is my 2nd Max (and probably last). If they can't balance my 17's how are they going to balance the 18s? Cost cutting shows up from skimpy carpet quality to cheap fastners that break on there own and in my case tell me i need to buy them (while under warranty). It goes on so think twice about what you are getting into. I may come off as a whiny customer but 2 cars have both cost me real money less than 2 monhs out of warranty each time and they don't care. I have been lurking from ha.net days waiting for the manual cls and of course I am excited about the Z but i have a current claim w/Nissan and they haven't returned my call today. Get the S/C and the manual Cls

I think this my 3rd post since this board has been up but have read almost every one in car talk !

I was also thinking about the sevice thing, being spoiled by Lexus. Also I would like to see the G35 coupe, I am interested in that. Finally the real Skyline should be here too.

well, ya i too would be concerned about the service...

but the plus side is, there are soooo many nissan dealerships that if your unhappy with one you typically have 10 other choices within 15 miles.
