Has there ever been a better time to own a car?

I think not.

I'm definitely not busting on Acura.

With the 6MT CL, the 6MT G35 Coupe, and the 350Z all coming in the next 8 months things are gonna change in a hurry for the status quo (re: BMW and Lexus).

HOLY F***ING PIECE OF SH**. I shoudl have waited for that Z. MSRP of Enthusiast Model 5AT (w/manual mode) is only $29k. That means $27k and i can walk out with the car. That would have been the one for me if I didnt just spent freaking $27k for my CLP. grrrrrrrrrr I thought nissan said starting at $30k. grrrrrr That thing looks kinda like a 911

Oh yeah...if pricing is true to form....Nissan might have shot itself in the butt..
It WILL TAKE AWAY SALES OF the Altima, G35, Max, I35....all are aimed at a somewhat sportier crowd.....I wonder who was the brillant guy who is doing the market strategy?

The Altima, G35, Maxima, and I35 are all giant 4 doors....this is a tiny sports car (no baby seats going in this ride), the last generation Z didn't steal sales away from anything else.

Lancer Evo does kick ass, 2 different ball games though.....wouldn't mind having both.

Ahhh...you say that now...but there are those who bought those cars because they were quick...not cause they were good cars...

Umm....I think I got a hard-on...no, wait...just my keys....

My tax-refund (whatever it is) will be put down for the Enthusiast, with the 18's, BOSE, and Nav.

I'm sorry, but if you look at it, that's Boxster S or better under 31K.

I'm not saying that it will, but you have to remember that the old 300 was in the $40K range.

Though the people buying the Altima/Maxima are usually looking for different things, Rod's right in that I was seriously looking at getting an altima shortly, but, unless the G35 is SERIOUSLY a contender, I'm going back to Nissan for the Z.

dee

The reason we don't have a Z now is because there were too many better/faster cars for ALOT less than the 40 large nissan was asking back then. Also, there's unconfirmed rumor that the convertible and the twin-turbo conv. are already being finalized.

Can you have the track model with leather package plus things missing from the touring package. If so, it could be nice... plus NAV and so I figure a number close to $40K.

Still it looks sweet!

Should give a lesson or to Acura how to make a real sport car for 1/2 cost of the NSX!

Hmm, yeah. I hope the G35 coupe isn't too much more expensive than the 350 Z.

I have no idea the G35 is replacing - Right now Infinity has the G20 and the I35 - WTF?

So, I priced out a new I35 with everything except NAVI - $33,000.

That's not too bad. Those cars are pretty nice with the heated steering wheel, read sunshade, etc.

My thoughts exactly. Better yet, start a 350Z/G35 forum. Both models are slated to have a ton of NISMO support come September and the activity on Freshalloy.com is non-existent.

Did you see the stats I ran through Car Test for the G35 5AT?

Look at this shit!!!

Standing start accelaration test:

260HP/260 lb. ft. torque
brake torqued to 2000 rpm
0-60 = 5.9
1320 = 14.6 @ 98.6

Suppossedly there is a performance package (NISMO) coming in Sept. '02 that will raise the HP to 280. I figured in a rise in torque to 270 for shits and giggles.

280HP/270 lb. ft. torque
brake torqued to 2000 rpm
0-60 = 5.7
1320 = 14.3 @ 100.7

Wow! Obviously this is just bullshit benchracing and not proven, but that second set of numbers is in 540i/GS430 territory. I for one am excited about the possibilities of this car!
