350Z has tranny problems!!

Hey guys;
Check out this link for the 350Z. Apparently this car has had some transmissions replaced already as well!
http://www.350zforum.com/

Go to the forums, and people are talking about blown tranny's
some at 9k, some at 2600 miles! Do they let just anyone make cars now or what!

there are atleast 20,000 z's sold. Even with a 1% casualty rate that is 200 cars. I have been at my350z.com for some time and haven't heard anything about this. Things break, it happens. I dont see any trend of mass failure.

the Z's affected were almost all very early VIN numbers and the problems were gringing into 2cnd/3rd gear usually when it's cold. Not complete failure. I believe Nissan fixed this issue in later Z's with a new 'clevis'...whatever the hell that is . Mine's fine and I also don't see any trend as of yet.

Same here. I haven't read much on this issue, and from what it sounds like, it's not a significant issue yet.

It's nowhere near as bad a problem as the Auto CL/TL tranny issue though

Again, a guy i work with is having his tranny replace. he did not take delivery of his car until late feb, even though he preordered and was supposed to get it in december. There goes your early vin number theory. In fact, a Nissan rep is going to be taking his tranny so that they can find out what is wrong with it. There is someone with a G35 that is driving around with the fourth tranny in it. he had 2 tranny failures and is on his 3rd replacement.

the g35...are we talking auto or manual?? Most are auto so far so I don't want to comapre apples and oranges. I'm referring to the 6 speed. As for my early VIN 'theory', it's still valid. Simply because a guy you know has had a problem doesn't mean it's the same problem I was referring to and doesn't mean it's a design flaw/ problem everyone has. For every guy you find with a problem I could find 100 people that don't have a problem. I'm on my350z.com all the time and the vast majority of the people there have no problems with their trannies.

not to mention that EVERY YEAR has it's problems. There are so many cars out there w/ tranny problems that you guys don't realize you are making a big deal of nothing, i know tons of people who have had replacements in all different kinds of cars. Things like this happen.

I feel like I'm reading tabloids sometimes here on ACL. Mainly by the wording used.

1-10 350's having problems is not a big deal... And frankly is expected.

I still agree that it doesn't seem to be a big deal yet, but apparently a few G35-6mt folks are having similar issues. Again this is not as wide spread as the Acura auto tranny issues but then again the Z hasn't been out that long.

http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...b=5&o=&fpart=1

on a side note, I think some Acura people jump at the fact that a few people might be having other car issues to help ease the pain of our Auto tranny issues. Misery loves company.

Not that many people are on the forum. Who knows how many more people are having problems with their tranny.
