LED "Halo" Taillights are on (PICS)

I'll be honest, I went back and forth on getting these as I'm generally not a fan of lighting mods. I was thinking of the safety of LED taillights and the split second quicker onset of braking/lighting for all the jerks that seem to love to tailgate.

1st step was to do the job right and get resisters on each of the 4 lights installed to prevent "hyper-flash."

Here is a side-by-side with the lights on during the day (left new lights, right old). It's amazing, you cant even tell the stocks on the right are on in comparison.

Final, lights on during the day...

A little darker out....

Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised with the outcome. They came with a free set of LED license plate lights, but Im definitely NOT installing those.

looks good, but why not install the other LEDs?

you shouldnt have any trouble from law enforcement as newer luxury cars (even the newer fords) have LED type lighting for the license plate.

I do most of my driving at night, and ive never had an issue from the local PD

Thanks man. I was thinking of different trouble actually; I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. j/k I actually have one of the 2 license plate lights unplugged right now. On a serious note though, like I said, I'm not a huge fan of lighting mods and think I outgrew that phase in my life.

Hmmm, look stock to me.

I vote for the license plate lights. I think swapping the stock bulbs for white LEDs adds a lot of look without any rice.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Im definitely a fan of the relatively stock look. I'd have to be a jerk to rice out a vette, so I was trying to avoid that at all costs. They certainly stand out and add a little character, but not in a bad way. The added safety of an earlier warning of braking and turning was worth it alone. Should have come from the factory this way. I imagine the C7 will have a similar setup.

Do the license plate lights. That's not "rice" at all. They just look much better in LED. I did them on my 3G TL, my e60 M5, and they came stock as LED on my e93 335.

I was thinking about that actually. Takes away from the stock look (which I'm a fan of), but definitely adds some character. Here is a vette in the same color with the same lights, tinted. What you think?

Walked out of the Corvette specialty shop with 40 more whp and some New Shoes

I really have to curtail my spending on this thing, it's getting out of hand. I really had no intention on getting new rims. Originally went in for the LG Pro Long Tube Headers and X-pipe, but was pointed to the new Matte Black rims that just came in. I couldn't help myself...

Here are some crappy shots with my iphone for now. One thing is certain, the LSx motor was meant to have the headers swapped out...big difference in sound/power.

You need to take somebody with you that will slap you any time you try to make in impulse buy.

I've never been a fan of black rims myself but to each his own.

I've never really been a huge fan of black wheels either, but I do like them on your vette. Nice pick up!

Thanks guys. There were 3 other Vette's waiting to get dyno tuned, so he just hooked mine up to his laptop and told me "that should give you at least 40 whp and 40 wtq." It definitely did. NwTSXmt, I definitely recommend swapping your headers and X-pipe and hook up a mild-to-wild remote switch to your dual mode exhaust. You will not regret this. The sounds alone (forget the power gains) when you goose the throttle are worth the price.

NwTSXmt, I was looking over my receipt and realized the wheels I got are repos of the 427 Vert' Centennial Edition Satin Black rims. The rims look pretty similar to those on your '13 Z06. Do you happen to know what rim package you got and what it says on your dealer sticker? You pay extra for those?

Nice exhaust. Not really a fan of black wheel on a red car but I won't pass final judgement till we can see the wheels in the daylight.

Thanks. I will definitely get some better shots in the daytime with a real camera once I get back after the holidays. They look better in person than the crappy pics that I took show. I'll also shoot some vids for you guys. The new sound is glorious Anything you guys want to see in particular (ie. in car acceleration, outside revs, ect)?
