A 2G RX-7 with....

....an LM7 from a Silverado.

decapsified it for easier reading.....

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...690881860.html

read entire listing before bidding

alright well hate to do this. i get lots of compliments on it and surprised faces. i didnt build this car to be a race car or anything i just did it to see if i can do it and anyways its my daily driver and dont wanna beat on it (my friends were building lsx datsuns and i wanted to build something newer). read all the way through to the very bottom

got the motor 07/18/2009

got the car 07/23/2009

got trans rebuilt 10/09/09

got it fired! 10/20/2009

got it on the road 11/06/09

got turbo kit finished 03/19/10

anyways heres the info on the car:

the bad:
some dents
drivers headlight motor is out but have motors to relace both sides
only the factory gas, tachometer and speedometer gauges work (not hard to get all gauges to work)
its on a street tune just to drive around but if you want maximum power you will need to tune it
no a/c or heater (bought it like that)
dash is cracked
sunroof motor/track is gone (how it was when i bought it.
the cars mileage isnt actual mileage. when i boguht he car it was set at zero.so any miles on it are from after the whole swap.(under 2000 so far)
will not pass california smog (no smog equipment)
you can buy the stuff to make it smog legal though.

I'm more impressed with how compact the small-block Chevy is...there's still plenty of room in that engine bay!

Interesting. Hopefully it doesn't go to someone who is going to kill people going fast.

The dude put a lot of work into it. I think the most interesting thing is that he used an engine from a Silverado. Usually swaps like that are done with a vette or camaro engine.

Also, if you read the last line, it doesn't pass Cali smog tests.

The LM7 engine from the silverado is the same design as the LS series motors in the Vette and Camaro. It is just must cheaper because it is an iron block and not as desirable.

$7,500 is a steal for this car. I would think about picking it up if I was closer.

^ some people also use reversed truck manifolds since they're cheap. Actually..... just searched through his mod list and that is what he used.

and if he used an LS1 or any other aluminum block LSx it wouldn't have been much heavier than the 13B.... usually the weight gain from these swaps is from the huge ass T56. and there are people who have fit an LS1 into an S2000 before

That RX7 is totally awesome although is the turbo really necessary? Maybe just for fun, why not.

However, I do hope the builder of that car isn't under the illusion that he can just buy his way into making that car Cal smog legal. The only way to do that is to drop the original rotary back in. Any smog ref here in the Golden State would dropkick that custom build so high into the sky it would break the earth's gravity and start orbiting the moon.

FC's are fun cars. Now if they could put that in an FD......

I wonder if the guy adapted the wiring harness, or ripped out the old one? That is a PITA.

That looks like a fun ride. I can't believe he can still use the stock rear end. A buddy of mine had a 2G with a 302 swap and he would break the diff every time he launched hard.

I had an LT1 2nd gen RX7 and someone else has an LS1 RX7 if my memory serves me right.
