298-hp for '05 G35 Sedan & Coupe 6MT
Hey guys & gals, new to the site and am in the market for a new car. I'm impressed with what's out there, including the TL. But Infiniti just announced the official horsepower figures as 298-hp for BOTH the 2005 G35 Sedan and Coupe 6MT versions at:
infinitinews.com
With the significantly upgraded/plusher interior (from the newly released pics) and available Intelligent Key and 18" wheels for the Sedan (19" for the Coupe), Infiniti really is trying to grab some market share (although their piece is still rather small compared to Acura's). I like the TL and WAS ready to purchase, but the G35 is growing on me FAST!
As a front-wheel-driver all my life, I want to see what's so good about the G35 and experience the benefits of rear-wheel-drive power transfer dynamics that the press and friends rave about (S2000, NSX, BMW). I guess I'll have to drive the '05 TL and compare it when the '05 G35 arrives from Japan.
Are there any significant changes to the TL for 2005? More HP? AWD?
BTW, where is the TL manufactured (Japan, UK, Canada, Mexico, US)? The dealer won't give me a straight answer. Any help with the aforementioned would be appreciated.

In answer to your queries;
Were is the TL manufactured (Japan, UK, Canada, Mexico, US)?
US, in Marysville OH (I think)
Are there any significant changes to the TL for 2005?
Not that I am aware of, possibly addition of another color and/or ommision of the Abyss blue.
More HP?
Definitely not!
AWD?
MOST definitely not!
Good luck with your decision!

The horse power gets me excited and the rear wheel drive does too, but it is just TOO UGLY of a car inside and out to me to ever consider it. Here are pics of the 05. The interior is still plasticy and plain. Just ugly IMHO.

honestly, you gotta look real hard to even see a difference in the interior. the center console is basically the same ugliness, the seat adjusters are still on the right side for some idiotic reason. i guess the door part looks nicer? the air vents are real nasty. is it me or did they make the exterior uglier? befor i thought it was merely ok, now i think it looks worse?

With stock 298 HP it can compete with an M3. A modded G, would be able to crush the M3...

I dun care how many hp does that car have..It still ugly. If I wanted a coupe yes I wouldv'e gotten the G35C, but since I went for a sedan...I would choose the TL over the G35 over anyday. So TL = For Sedan and G35C for Sports Coupe for me!

TL6Spd is right 298hp. So that means the 05 will step on your TL anytime, 24/7... More reason for you to hate on the G

And my driving is just fine, fuck you very much. I suppose those clowns at Car and Driver cant drive to you either since they've dissed its handling too:
If you're not judicious about applying throttle exiting a turn, for instance, you'll induce driveline snatch and a clunk that sounds like a loose U-joint. You can also induce something else: big, dirty oversteer. More oversteer than you'll recall since testing your brother's Mustang in the rain. It's not the simplest thing to catch, either, because the G35's steering is an iota oversensitive just off center, adding its own wobble at the critical instant you're attempting to restore navigation. Each editor sampled his own Rotational Moment, then reengaged the traction control and never touched it again.

You're stupid AND can't read, always a bad combo.
First off, no BMW here, but even if I did, it wouldn't get outhandled by that nissan. And in a few tests, the TL has outhandled it too. But I guess they just "can't drive" huh?
I know you HAVE to drive a nissan. I can smell it in your stupidity.

I urge you for your own good to get away from the internet sometime and read a book. Even a car magazine is fine, just something with big words.
Like I said above, IN....A.....FEW......TESTS.....the TL outhandled the G. Look it up, starting with R&T. When you're done with R&T, pick up C&D and you'll see the 530 (much heavier, I might add) ALSO outhandles the nissan.
The coupe version has also been outrun by a 330ci, so I feel bad (not really) for a nissan with MORE (ADVERTISED) POWER getting owned by a smaller (but much more sophisticated) engine.

No one has dissed the G35 handling yet that I have seen.
