I learned how to drive a stick in one of these old 240's. It was my friend's. It was a hooptie. Gray with red bucket seats. We used to go to the back roads on Ft. Hood and let 'er rip until it started smoking. Those were the days!
edit: I want to restore one of these one day. If nissan started "retroing" these like the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger they'd sell every last one.

EDIT: This is for the us market. I speak of no other.
I remember something about Nissan looking for a certain model of their older cars. Was it the 240Z though?
That 240 is either a modified autocross car, a project car or a junker. I wouldn't put money into trying to restore it.
The program didn't make money, and high performance standards have changed a lot since then.
IDK if it also included the 260Z and 280Zs.

The 240Z was indeed a great car. I had a '72 w/ triple-Weber carbs, cam, headers, and a free-flow exhaust. The car was a piece of cake to work on and a blast to drive. The only downside was that it beat the crap out of you with a very stiff ride, heavy steering and clutch and firm brakes. I still miss that car, in fact, I have a 1:18 diecast model of one in my office.

I had a 280Z-brown with turbine wheels, racing mirrors, front and rear spoiler and rear window louvers....loved it-great car! It was the first new car I ever bought.

Damn, there's something special about that Z, can't quite put my finger on it. Props to him driving around that low on coilovers
I can imagine that thing never goes anywhere near parking lots or driveways

My buddy has a 240z he has been restoring with an LS swap. Total frame off. It's gonna be nuts. He has lost interest in it as of lately. He bought a 08 350z and immediately TT'd it with 1200 miles on it. He just sent the car from Louisiana to Cali to have bigger turbos and a built block installed. Goal is a reliable 700whp.
Sure looks neat, but probably hell to drive with zero ground clearance and monster-stiff suspension.
Here's a nice example on Goo-Net, but this one is about $50 LArge... No way, even with the Weber carbs....

I don't get it...What's so special about THAT car?
