2017 Nissan GTR 550hp ICE + 700 hp EV
So I am doing some perusing on Topspeed.com this morning and stumble across the article on the upcoming GTR. If Nissan actually brings this particular mix of power trains to the market in this car, it would like be one of the fastest car on earth. However, the practical side of me then steps up and says "if you can only enjoy 4-5 seconds of 100% thrust of your RLX-SH without going to jail, what the heck could you do with about 300% more power?" The answer is simple: You would be able to enjoy the 'full beans" for 2-3 seconds. Is that worth the enormous price tag this new car will demand? Depending on your personality and cash reserves, you can make an argument for it. But it does sound like a bucket of fun...

All GT-Rs are a bucket of fun. Whether it was 468 hp or 700hp

If I don't use my government math I come up with 550+700= OMG!!!! 1,250hp!!! With neck a snapping 700 EV HP alone, I don't think my surgically repaired neck could survive. But again what fun it would be. I still want the new Z06. But I am looking into my new 2nd home in Boca. And then there is that nutty idea about a 2nd RLX-SH. Tough life...

Well Payton Manning doing fine after neck surgery, so a RLXh owner as yourself should have no problem.
Wish I had your 1st world problems:
2nd home in Boca
2nd RLXh
Z06
I rather have a mistress

After reading the article, I highly doubt Nissan will push 700hp out of the hybrid system for a road car, for total output of 1250hp. The consumer version will be highly detuned from the LM race version. Still, I don't see 800hp being out of question.
There's two problems I think Nissan would face:
1. Pricing. Hopefully the GTR doesn't go the way of the Supra, RX-7, etc, where although the final iterations were fantastic cars, they became very expensive and sales number plummeted, causing the cars to ultimately be scrapped.
2. Suicide Machines. The Hellcats are bad enough as is with "only" 700hp. How many have been written off already? Granted, the GTR has waaaay more advanced driving aids and superior AWD, but I don't think putting 1250hp cars into the hands of the general public will end very well...

So, would a 1200 HP (or even 700HP for that matter )road car come with a customized tombstone?? Each owner of all of these supercars should be required to take a couple of year's worth of advance driving schools before they are handed the keys.
We all complain about the CAFE requirements, but, when it comes to the current horsepower wars, how much is enough already??? Fortunately most of the road rockets come with crazy price tags which should limit their ownership to drivers "with a bit of age to them", drivers who have had SOME of the stupid teenager within us all tempered by years of learning and maturing.
My old man rant for the day.

If Nissan goes ahead with this...well....
But NO ONE has a AWD system like Nissan's GTR so that could turn the auto world upside down.
