Now Livernois Motorsports tuned

Last week one night after work I pulled my XSport into the warehouse, below zero temps outside here. I tightened all the spark plug gaps to .030 using a NAPA Spark Plug Gauge. Next I installed an Even-Flo 160 thermostat, and changed from a 2BAR to a the 3Bar MAP sensor. After the parts were all installed and everything was put back together, I connected the LMS tuner and loaded in the 93 Octane 3Bar tune. Last, I ran it, topped off the coolant, and headed home about 40 miles away.

The first thing I noticed was the harder shifts, which I know it's part of the adaptive learning process. I also noticed that I can easily hear the turbos now, which I could hardly hear them when stock. Giving it part throttle when pulling away from a traffic light I was easily leaving everyone behind. I came to an intersection on some back roads, nailed the throttle from a stop with traction control off. All 4 wheels broke loose, took off hard, I looked down to see when I'd hit 60 and I was already past it! By this time I was already laughing saying "Holy Sh*t"! Did not expect that...

WOW, that is awesome! When I see an Explorer, I never imagine all 4 wheels breaking traction.

Talk about a Sleeper!!!!

Ha. Too funny. The Sport pulls like a train...it's rather surprising for such a large vehicle.

Don't do that too much otherwise all four drive axles will break loose. Guessing the exploder isn't really designed for drag racing.

Yeah, that's pretty funny.

The difference between stock and the LMS tune is pretty huge, especially at the lower rpms. Here's what their tuned power is at the wheels.

Add their Hi Flow Cat Downpipe and Corsa Catback with the tune.

This is why I went with these guys. They are one of the best, if not the best, for modding the Ecoboost setups. From the Livernois Rep I dealt with.

Thank you for your interest in our products!

Our tuner is made by AIW and we create the custom files, load them on the device, then you connect to the OBD-II port to flash it and disconnect when finished. The tuner holds stock + 4 files. We just need your strategy code, tire size (if different than stock), and what files you want loaded.

All of our tunes have been developed in-house on our AWD chassis dyno or the track and proven on the street using our Taurus SHO, F150, Explorer Sport & Flex EcoBoost shop vehicles. We also claim the quickest boost only SHO, Flex, Explorer Sport, and F150. (SHO has been 11.95 @ 117 mph, Flex has been 12.72 @ 109 mph, Explorer Sport has been 12.81 @107 mph, and F150 has been 12.87 @ 103 mph )

Before releasing our tunes to the public, we had hundreds of dyno pulls and thousands of street miles logged in our own truck. The increased power and torque was great, but we also focused on drivability and reliability.

Transmission calibration is another area we spent a lot of time on. The vehicle shifts more precisely, positive, and firm.

To my knowledge, we’ve tuned more EcoBoost vehicles than anyone in the country and have had zero failures of any kind. We've benchmarked competitor tunes and feel ours is the safest, most reliable and best performing tune you can buy.

The tunes are available for 87, 89, 91, or 93 octane with performance or tow specific files. Most customers claim better fuel economy no matter what tune they select (1-2 mpg).
Thank you

Regards,
Anthony

Wow that sounds like so much fun! I saw a modded SHO running 12s at the track one day. Totally unassuming car beating almost every street car it lined up against. It jumped off the tree. Really impressive!

Those ECOBoost engines with a tune are lethal...I looked up how much a simple tune adds to an ECOBoost Flex when I was needing a new vehicle and it was insane how much hp and tq a simple added.

In the end I went v8.

OP- did you look into other tunes aside from Livernois? I'm pretty undecided on who to go with. COBB seems rather appetizing as well.

The 2 best are Livernois and Torrie at Unleashed. If you want to try different tunes from other companies in the future go with Torrie, since he uses the SCT tuner which is what most tuners are using. SCT has software that the tuners can adjust. The SCT can also datalog.
Livernois uses the AIW tuner with their own software that they can manipulate and are not restricted to another companies software, it can not datalog, but they can adjust the tune for you if needed.

You might want to consider going to the Livernois shop and get it dyno tuned by them since you aren't that far away.

My first tune for the ST was with Torrie at Unleashed Tuning. He does good work.

Ultimately I grabbed an AccessPORT from COBB since I like the interface more than the SCT tuner. And I ran custom tune files from FSWERKS and now I'm using custom tunes from Mountune.

Awesome numbers NYTHAWK! She must be a beast.

I cannot wait for the RS to come around. Simple tune and it'll be taking on the M3/4. In a Focus hatchback.

Good to hear but just be careful unless their warranty covers all the other drivetrain components.

At about 5000 lbs it's hard to believe.

Just to be clear, those dyno sheets are from the Livernois Explorer Sport. Mine has the same mods as the top sheet, minus their CAI which I'm not sure it really adds much. I still have the stock airbox with a K&N filter, which from what I've seen is better than some of the aftermarket CAI out there.

One day I will add the downpipes and Corsa catback, maybe even Meth injection.

I figured I'd give Dynolicious Fusion a try. I did one run from 0 to about 80. I had traction control off in Normal mode and hit the throttle from idle. After the run I got a message GPS was off, so I'll try it again with it on next time for better accuracy.
