Parents are idiots. Kids are going to be stupid but how about not making it easy for them?

The fact that you haven't given us any pics renders this story to seem a tiny bit fake.

I'll be honest, I'm 17 and I drive a nice car-- but it's far for the 'nicest' car at my school. It's not that abnormal for kids to drive nice cars, but almost always the kids are just 'borrowing' daddy's car. I'm fairly convinced your parents did not buy you a brand new 2013 Golf R with said modifications, but feel free to prove me wrong with a photo of both the TL and the Golf R in the same pic...

A bagel would do just fine as well.

This was from another forum.

*backstory* One member convinces the forum that he is rich and is planning on buying a F40. Later, he gets found out and ridiculed. Few days later, another member who actually owns a F40 decides to post bagel.

To all the haters out there... This post was not intended to make myself sound like a douche bag but i feel as if thats what it has done. All you are saying i will crash the car or what have you. Even though I'm 16 doesn't mean i cant drive I've been racing Go-Karts from age 9 and last year when i got my license and my car i stopped racing karts. I can almost guarantee i will out drive anyone on this forum in a Go-Kart. I now have moved on to racing cars. I track my Golf at least 2-3 a month when the weather is nice. (Haven't hit the track since november) The league isn't really competitive but there are classes of cars and its more less time trials. Also this is not my parents care like one of you said... My dad drives a 2012 Audi S5 Cab with STaSIS flash, APR Stage II CAI, AWE exhaust with downpipes, Eurocode Alu-Kruez stabilizer, H&R Spacers, H&R front and rear sway bars and a few other little bits. My mom drives a 2012 Mini Countryman S All4 that is more less stock just a few cosmetic bits. Here is a link to the pictures. Sorry its not a full stick of butter. Waiting to do a real photo shoot of the S5 and the Golf once they both get their new wheels in a few months. Couple pics of the Mini and S5 and Mini and Golf.

Ya'll got pwned...lol. Nice rides, your family has good taste. Anyway, as someone said earlier why modify it if its your beater for bad weather? Its still gonna be a boat and pretty slow regardless. It's a TL, it rides nice and its smooth just keep it that way.

I was a bit skeptical, I won't lie. Mod list seemed like a copy/paste. for knowing your stuff at 16 and definitely a nice upgrade from a go-kart. Nice taste in cars.

Looks photoshopped. Just messing with you.

Nice stable your family has there. From the pics of the garage looks like a nice house too.

Welcome to the board. Don't let the donkeys here get to you. We've had too many trolls come on here bragging and not coming through with pics. Glad you have a sense of humor with the bacon and butter shots.

Very nice cars!

As for your grandpa's TL, is it a Type S or a regular TL? You might want to check out the following link for anything related to the 2nd gen TL:
https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/

You can't really make the TL exponentially faster without spending tons of money and effort. The basic I/H/E and supercharger will get you some decent improvement, but you are looking at perhaps 13's in the 1/4 mile at best with nice tires. I don't think for a daily driver, you will go with transmission swap, engine rebuilding, stroking the engine, etc.

If I were you, knowing that I will have financial backing, I'd go with the simple bolt-on's (comptech icebox intake, comptech headers, ATLS exhaust), a simple drop (some sports spring with a 1" to 2" drop + some aftermarket shocks), and OEM Lip kit. The above along with your ADV5.01 should look quite nice and you will have a fairly quick and comfortable daily cruiser.

+1 on keeping the TL somewhat stock. If it is going to be a "beater" you are probably going to give it a little less attention than the Golf. Take the money and put it towards more parts for the Golf, and get some good winter tires for the TL.

Also keeping the TL stock,(although still nice car for a 16 y/o) you can take a girl out on the first date to see if she is a nice girl and not a money hungry whore that is into you just for your (parents) money.

I said people on a forum don't believe me about the car so I need to take pics with butter and bacon for proof.

Once I get my new rubber I'm bringing her to bandamere. Ill get some videos then. Going to do some 1/4 mile runs and see what she does. I'm just worried about my clutch even though its rated for 550 foot pounds. Dumping it from 6k is still tough on it.

fyi, don't expect vw to pay for a new clutch if it goes. I had a friend who had some golf in the 90's and they knew about people racing them back then.

Yea i know they wont. My buddy just got a 2013 world rally blue WRX a couple of weeks ago. He has been driving a stick for a few years because he had an A3 before his rex. But he already blew his clutch and the car has 1800 miles. Subaru paid for it though. Need to do a photo shoot of the R and the Rex sometime soon... They are both blue with black wheels. I think it would be a sweet shoot.

Checks out, very cool. Why would you bag a track car though?

That's the only dilemma... I'm not sure what I want to do. Bags would just be cool for the factor that I can raise it and lower it whenever. I wouldn't have to put it back in stock springs for winter and put the aftermarkets back on. I think it would just be really cool thing to have done. I could change the look at a touch of a button. I can always bring the S5 to the track
