2007 Infiniti G35

2007 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan

The first major redesign of Infiniti’s award-winning sports sedan was unveiled at the 2006 New York International Auto Show. The new G35 sedan was designed to meet the high expectations of Infiniti owners, who have embraced the original G35 and seek a continuation of its unique combination of vibrant design, exhilarating performance and advanced technology.

The 2007 G35 sedan exceeds these expectations, with an evolution of the platform, interior and exterior style, and the next generation of the award-winning VQ-series V6. The redesigned interior combines modern warmth and Japanese design cues, and technologically the G35 sets the bar for features available in its class, including available touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information and audiophile premium audio system that brings studio quality sound to the road. The G35 sedan also offers customers the choice of a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission, rear- or all-wheel drive, and option packages covering the spectrum of style, and on-road and in-cabin performance.

Highlights of the 2007 G35 Sedan include:
· Available in five models – G35, G35 Journey, G35x AWD, G35 Sport and G35 Sport 6MT.
· Option packages include Premium Package, Navigation Package, Satellite Radio Package (with choice of XM® or Sirius™), Technology Package, and Performance Tire & Wheel Package.
· New exterior with seductive surfaces, sculpted grille blades, iconic headlights and taillights.
· Refined interior with unique features such as the white-and-violet Fine Vision gauge illumination and high-touch, textured aluminum-alloy trim with “Washi” (traditional handmade paper) finish patterning.
· Available RearView Monitor.
· Available touchscreen Infiniti Navigation System with available XM® NavTraffic™ with real-time traffic information and a 9.5 gigabyte audio server.
· Available audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® premium audio system – combines the industry’s first 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with an audiophile quality head unit incorporating double oversampling 24-bit 96KHz Burr Brown® Digital Audio Converters.
· Magnesium paddle shifters for the G35 Sport model (automatic transmission).
· Standard Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition.
· Available Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) with Preview Braking.
· Standard High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-xenon headlights.
· Optional Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), which automatically controls the headlight lighting pattern according to steering angle and vehicle speed to help provide better visibility at night.
· Fourth-generation VQ-series V6, with approximately 80% of major parts redesigned; highlights include increased crank journal and pin diameters, addition of standard variable exhaust cam timing (eCVTCS), a higher rev limit (increased from 6,600 rpm to 7,500 rpm) and higher compression ratio (10.6:1 versus the previous 10.3:1), asymmetric piston skirts, twin knock sensors, improved coolant flow and new Iridium spark plugs.
· Available Infiniti “intelligent” all-wheel drive system - ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system, also utilized on the M35x and FX.
· Available Four-Wheel Active Steer (G35 Sport and G35 Sport 6MT).
· New exterior colors – Garnet Ember, Slate Blue and Platinum Graphite.
I currently have a 2005 Acura TL w/ Navigation that my older brother gave me when my parents baught him his fully loaded 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD. Now my parents have decided to buy me a new car and the following are my choices.

· 2007 Acura TL Type-S w/ Navigation (Fully Loaded)
· 2007 Infiniti G35x (Fully Loaded)
· 2007 Acura MDX (Fully Loaded) - I don't know why, but I've always wanted an SUV.
· 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD (Fully Loaded)

As of right now, the 2007 Infiniti G35x sounds very good considering the features and specifications quoted above. How many current 3G TL owners are considering getting a 2007 Infiniti G35 this fall?

Ummmm parents are going to buy you ANOTHER car even though you already have a nice one? Someone needs to slap your parents. Go get a job and get yourself a nice car on your own. No parent need to be buying there kids a luxury car period.

First off, I'd like to say that you are one lucky kid to have parents that support you like that. You must be a good kid.

I too was considering the 2007 G35. Its an awesome car and a great value for the price. There were two things about the car that made me decide to get another car. First off everyone and their mama has a G35. Secondly, if you read up on the nissan/infiniti forums many people were having reliability problems with their VQ engines.

If I were you, i'd get the 07 IS350 I was saving for that car, but then ... I had an impulse... and somehow ended up with an evo

there are very few problems with the VQ engine. Please go to the nissan/infiniti forums and see how FEW problems there are.

Maybe the guys with problems were using 87 octane.

I have two VQs in my garage (02 Maxima and 05 Murano) and have yet to have ANY problems with the motor.

The only "gripe" I hear about the VQ35DE comes from 95-01 Maxima/I30 owners who have upgraded to VQ35DE Nissans. A few of them indicated that the VQ30DE/k is smoother than the VQ35DE but despite that, none had any regrets about making the upgrade.

Yeah, the kids parents are going to offer him a $40,000+ car and he's going to turn it down...I don't think so...

If the kid doesn't suck and has an appreciation for what he has, I don't see a problem with the parents doing whatever they want with their own money.

Find out what the cost difference is. Get your parents to give it to you in cash. Invest it.

Use it to buy a new car when you NEED it in 3-5 years. Hopefully it will grow enough to get you something nice.

+1

I owned a 96 maxima for 7 years / 165k miles. ZERO engine problem. Still pulling strong when I sold it, felt like it can go another 100k at least.

What a fun car it was.

F23A4 is right though. The VQ does NOT like anything gas other than premium...

I have a gripe about the VQ35 engine. I owned a 2004 G35 coupe and it consumed 4 quarts of Mobil 1 oil in 3500 miles (no spillage here). Car only had 10,500 miles. I traded that sucker in for a 2005 Acura TL as fast as I could after that.

^^ there have been reported cases of excessive oil consumption with the VQ, but it's not as common as, say, a certain "other" company's tranny problems...

My girlfriend has a 2006 Lexus IS 350. It's a nice car, but it's a little too snug for me. That's why I'm considering the 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD. I'd probably get this car if my brother didn't have a 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD. I really don't want the same car as him even though my parents are pushing me to get the 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD.

Where exactly are you getting your information? The VQ is a very reliable engine which it why it was been in the top 10 best engines for 12 or 13 years in a row

I would get the G35. It sounds very promising from the current info. If infiniti is making the G35 anything like the new M, it shouldnt have very many problems at all. Also, the car looks hot. 286 hp to the front wheels in the TL will just give you a bunch of torque steer

No. Info is wrong, there is no manual for IS350. Go check clublexus.com and they already announced the changes in MY07. You do get to disable that nasty VDIM though

One of the primary reasons I turned in my 2002 Altima SE for my '04 TL was some inherent problems with peripherals and potential problems with the engine. Nissan had (has?) an on-going problem with clutches from minor things such as the pedal emitting a scraping sound (coil springs on the swivel) to the actual clutch assembly itself chattering and "howling". And then there was the problem with their MAFs. I had one go out on me to the tune of $513! You do get to drive in the "limp home" mode. Fortunately our TLs do not have MAFs. But the real kicker was a problem that started showing up with the 4-cylinders and later with the sixes (obviously the SE was a 6-cylinder 214 cubic inch VQ engine).

The pre-cats starting destructing and some of the dust and debris from the catalyst material would get sucked back into the cylinders. You can imagine what this could do to rings and bearings and such. There were some on the site that had to have their engines replaced.

It's mainly because I live in New Jersey and the weather gets pretty bad sometimes in the winter. Are there any other 3G TL ( or even 2G TL ) owners considering the 2007 Infiniti G35? I never even considered the 1G G35, but the 2007 Infiniti G35 is really something ( interior and exterior styling, features, options, etc. ). I was really looking forward to the 2007 Acura TL Type-S, but as of now I'm pretty disappointed with what I see. For $39,000+ I much rather have a 2007 Infiniti G35, 2007 Acura MDX, or a 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD. Styling wise the 3G TL is a beauty, but now the MY 2007 model is lacking in features. I want the lasted and greatest and the 2007 Acura TL Type-S doesn't seem to be delivering that. This is where my other three options come in. I'm really loving the 2007 Infiniti G35 and I think Infiniti has a huge hit on their hands.

Why don't you also consider the M35x and the RL since you want AWD?

Also, how come you won't consider BMW, Mercedes, or Audi cars?

It's all about personal taste. I'm not too into BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Audi vehicles. I think Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura have a lot more to offer when it comes to styling ( interior and exterior ) than BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Audi. ( Some people may disagree, but that's just my personal opinion. ) I did consider the Infiniti M35x and the Acura RL, but neither car delivered on both great exterior and interior styling. The Acura RL has a great interior, but the exterior is very bland. The Infiniti M35x has a great exterior, but the interior is just OK. My considerations when looking at a vehicle include 1) great exterior and interior styling, 2) advanced technology ( features and options ), 3) AWD, and 4) a good mix of luxury and sport. The vehicles I mentioned before seem to encompass all of the above.

^ I heard about these problems, some people actually claim that the dealerships refused to fix or acknowledge these problems because they claimed the engine was naturally "this way" because the engines are highly tuned sports car engines

I hope Infiniti can manufacturer the 2007 Infiniti G35 in large quantities because I really don't want to wait three or four months to get my car after I place the order.

Oh yeah, I definitely won't be paying MSRP or close to it for the 2007 Infiniti G35. My parents have never paid MSRP for any car and the 2007 Infiniti G35 won't be any different. It's the principle.

What a good answer. Kid wants to get rid of a perfectly serviceable 2005 Acura? Take the difference, nvest and make your OWN money. Best advice so far. While it's growing in investments, you can decide if you want a new car later, or a house, or other investments.

I had two G35's. A 2004 and 2005. Both never used a drop of oil. And I raced my 05 at MSR/TMS tracks and autox all the time. I went 6k oil changes with Amsoil.

She hasn't driven it in the snow yet. I'm going to be test driving all of the vehicles before I decide upon one so I'll see how things work out this fall. Is there no one else on AcuraZine considering the 2007 Infiniti G35? That's brand loyalty.

pimpin-tl, did you ever have any major / annoying problems with your 1G G35's?

we used to have a 350Z. got rid of it for an accord.
i know the Z and G35 sedan are different in ways, but drives pretty similarly.
interior wise, the Z was horrible in many ways. everything felt cheap, the plastics were really rough and started rattling after only 3500 miles on the odo. the bucket seats felt good and the bolsters helped, but after 30 minutes, you would get chronic backaches.

the engine.. same concern with most. the oil consumption is killer. the gas mileage is HORRID. they claim like 18mpg city and 26mpg for highway? somewhere along those lines?? the little monitor was telling us that the average mileage we got after our trips down to philly and atlantic city (so all highway, and we live in northern nj) was 14.5mpg. thats the WHOLE average of what the car was getting during the short time we had it.

i also heard the same for even the G35 sedans.

WEIRD thing is.. she also has a Murano. which is freakin AMAZING suv! so smooth, so practical. the gas mileage is actually in the UPPER 20's! thats more than my TL! very solid car, feels sporty and alive. NEVER had an engine problem, it was also very gentle on the oil.

so i dont know what to say about the newer g35's.. but for some reason, even if its supposedly the same or similar VQ engine, they all behave very differently.

oh, and the Z wasnt so bad driving in the winters with all-seasons.

yeah the back would slide around alittle when making turns in snow, but since nissans are pretty responsive, you can actually straighten it out in no time.
